The news last night mentioned that Michigan State is starting its basketball practices.  How soon are the MIAA teams starting their practices?  It is at the end of October?

DI has ... it's own schedule.

DIII is always Oct. 15 even when they moved up the start date to Nov. 8 - the concession to move the season start earlier was that the practice season did NOT start earlier. In other words, the season is 19-weeks ... only.

Calvin's first exhibition game is October 22, so that's going to be a rough one for the Knights. New coach, new team, (new university,) and one week to practice.

They are probably looking to be playing some kind of game at about that point anyway. I bet that event probably is broken into three halves or something wacky like that.

Looks like G/F Jack Smith will rejoin the Kzoo basketball team after taking a year off. He averaged 6.0/1.6/1.6 on 42.2/34.4/73.1 splits as a freshman two years ago. At the very least he'll be a nice depth piece for the Hornets, but he's an amazing athlete and I wouldn't be surprised if he makes significant contributions this year.

Hopefully someone informed LeRoy that it will always be Calvin College to 95% of alumni and despite the name changes, massive shift away from tradition and beloved faculty, he isn't going to be changing too many minds on that

Yes, and good for you.  Very close to your own milestone.
