Congratulations on great careers for Calvin's seniors, DeWitte, Bos, and DeVries.  Enjoyed watching you play the last four years.  Best wishes in your future endeavors.

Go Calvin!

Interesting couple minutes during halftime on the broadcast of the first men's semifinal. The announcers spent a few minutes talking with the commissioner of the conference and she mentioned possible expansion. Anyone know anything about that?

Couple really great and compelling games at Kresge tonight.  Both very similar flows and very different endings.

Adrian 80  Calvin 78  F
I made two observations to my friend watching with me tonight.  First half Calvin was taking and making almost exclusively long jump shots, eventually those won't fall as much and Adrian will find an opening to get back in this.

The second was much later in the game, Adrian's setting up for a FT and all 4 Calvin players in the lane were hunched over pulling on their shorts.  They were done physically, it was only a matter of if they were done mentally, and the huge mistakes down the stretch kinda showed they were.  But Adrian won this based mostly on pure emotion and adrenaline, quite a final stretch run.

I hope someone got Coach Lindsey's epic double-technical foul on video, it was one for the hall of fame of technical fouls.  Lindsey had been getting pretty wound up most of the second half.  I honestly can't blame him I thought there was a pretty obvious stretch Adrian got the short end of the officials whistles.  Whatever set off Lindsey resulted in him removing his jacket in front of official one who t'd him up, he turned to toss the jacket turned back and removed his tie which earned him t number two from a different official.  Maybe some naughty words in there or two.  I might have missed the towel throwing but Albion staff were summoned to clean up the area behind the Adrian bench, there were towels involved.   Epic, right up there with Joe Haklin who remains the best snow angel maker in MIAA history.

Calvin's 4 missed FT's on that trip really fired Adrian up, make those and its probably game over.  Huge turnovers and mistakes down the stretch for the Knights, it was perplexing in some ways.

Great finish, fun to watch.

Trine 77  Albion 73

Similar to game one, only Trine snatched the game back in the end.  Great second half swing from Albion being down 16 to going up one on a ridiculous Jamezell Davis three ball.

Trine was outstanding tonight in nearly every facet of the game but the overall difference was 3-point shooting.  Trine was 11-24 to Albion's 5-17, that's the whole ball game really.  Great game.

Tough loss for Albion, who will probably be a bit to far back to garner a Pool C bid.  Very impressed with those young men and the way they've handled everything this year.

Btw, even though all 6 officials are very familiar to the MIAA, they had mostly worked MAC games this year.  Thought that was interesting.

With either Trine or Adrian representing the MIAA in the NCAA tournament we've now had FIVE different MIAA programs in the NCAA Tournament the last 5 seasons.

2016---Alma, Hope
2017---Calvin, Hope
2018---Hope
2019---Albion

If Adrian wins tomorrow  SEVEN MIAA programs will have won some kind of MIAA Championship trophy in the last 5 years.

Tournament
16--Alma
17--Calvin
18--Hope
19--Albion

Reg. Season
16--Hope
17--Hope
18--Hope, Olivet
19--Trine
20--Albion

It's worth mentioning that neither Adrian nor Trine has ever made the dance before. Those two schools and Olivet are the remaining D3 tourney virgins in the MIAA.

Tomorrow night, either the Bulldogs or the Thunder will achieve a goal that every college basketball team desires but that the program has never done before. If that doesn't add spice to the MIAA tourney final, I don't know what does.

Curious hypothetical, but does the MIAA have any sort of "standard penalty" (suspension next game) for a double tech / ejection? Have we seen a player or coach get booted recently?

I almost seem to recall something about T Manuel or S Hargreaves, but confess my recent memory fails me at times.

Steve Ernst got one last year against Trine.

He did serve a one game suspension shortly after, but I don't know if it was related to the technicals or the post-game shenanigans with Kzoo, or something else.
Hargraves was a couple years ago and was suspended one game.  I can't remember if that was contact with an official or not.

What Lindsey did was spectacular, but I didn't really feel he deserved a second technical last night unless there were magic words.

Aaron Tiknis would coach tonight if Lindsey doesn't.  Tiknis seems like he's going to be a good coach someday.

I've never been to a basketball game at Albion (I've been to a couple football games there but not basketball), it appears that there isn't any parking next to Kresge Gym, where is public parking for visitors?

There is a lot at the corner of Cass and Oswego across from the Methodist Church, otherwise there is ample street parking.

I believe Albion just went on break, so you can probably park in any lot.

Here's a good one for the research guys.

If Adrian wins tonight, they would go from finishing 8th last year(last in conference) to NCAA tournament the next.  I can't imagine that's happened very often.

Go Calvin!

The only semi far fetched one I've heard is Finlandia. They want in (and are for football). But imagine that drive either way in Jan/Feb?! Really not sure anyone else around is a fit or would want to because that would be a move up from NCCAA or, arguably due to lack of scholarships, a move down for NAIA.
