Like IMG Academy where Danny Beckman played, Oak Hill has multiple teams.   Oak Hill doesn't have all its rosters online but Raheem was not on the highest level Oak Hill team full of future NBA prospects.

Best I can tell Oak Hill has three teams. The Gold team is their main/high profile team that competes nationally. They also have Red, which Anees Abdul-Raheem was a member of, and White teams. I'm not sure if the White team is a JV or club team but their team photo looks young/less physically advanced.

You always want confident kids, but realistically so. Anees Abdul-Raheem is likely a good basketball player, maybe even a very good one. However, despite the fact, as Ziggy points out above, that he wasn't even on his prep school's top team, there appears every possibility that Mr. Abdul-Raheem thinks his abilities are out of this world good. Take a look at his Twitter account on which he refers to himself not as a point guard, but as a PointGOD. Hopefully he means his athletic abilities are God given. Otherwise it seems he may have gotten lost on the road to Ann Arbor and wound up in Holland!  :o  ;)
Haha agreed.  Lots of questions with his commitment.. Strange

As reflected above, impressive recruiting numbers for most of the MIAA members. However, there is one notable exception. Last season Adrian had a decent year and finished strong, winning the tournament championship and qualifying for the National Tournament. However, they don't have a single recruit listed. Do any of the knowledgeable MIAA posters have any insight as to what might account for this seemingly surprising state?

KnightSlappy

Last year we had identified one recruit for Adrian.

Not sure anyone on Oak Hills' top team plays D3.

Agreed. I'd like to know the height of the rim he dunks on in his commitment video.

Brandon Paul is transferring to Calvin from Grand Valley State University, per his Twitter account. The 6-8 product of Sault High School in the UP was a redshirt sophomore this past season at GVSU, and comes to Calvin with three years of eligibility available.

I'm not sure of an exact offer list but very likely Bill Sall tried to get him to Northern Michigan. Per an article about his commitment to Grand Valley, "Paul said he had 8-10 college offers, but narrowed his choices this past winter to a few Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools in Michigan."

I am very much OK with Billy trying to build a D2 team at Calvin.

When Bill took the job at Calvin, I said that his hire would make recruiting competition tougher for certain local colleges. I just didn't expect one of them to be in Allendale. First it was Luke Scheffers, and now it seems there is a second player that Calvin has clawed away from Ric Wesley.

Luke Scheffers would like to remind you that he was offered a 100% full ride to D1 Northern Illinois though.  Again, D1 ;)

Per Twitter, Jackson Glanzer,  5'11" guard from Berrien Springs planning to play at Calvin.

I can't remember this many recruits in recent history. Seems like a lot of welcome recruiting energy so far in the Sall era. I thought VandeStreek had lost that juice toward the end.

Calvin announced the Brandon Paul transfer.
https://twitter.com/CalvinMensBball/status/1261272024862908416

Couldn't help but notice that the tweet had "GVSU transfer" in big, highlighted letters, with "Sault Area High School" below that in unhighlighted small type -- yet the Brobdingnagian stats for Brandon Paul that the tweet showcases in even bigger type (21 ppg, 14 rpg) are numbers that he achieved in high school, despite the fact that that's not indicated in the tweet. (Last season at Grand Valley State he got into 18 of the 30 games that the Lakers played, averaging 1.1 ppg and 1.2 rpg in 6.3 mpg.)

It means nothing in the long run; I just thought that it was an interesting bit of legerdemain on the part of Calvin's tweetmeister. ;)

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

With the number of significant retirements on the men's side of Division III basketball, there is plenty to talk about in the month of May. Thus, we needed a "Part 2" this month.

On this "Hoopsville Podcast: May Edition (Part 2)", we talk about what is arguably one of the most significant retirement classes of coaches in the history of Division III - especially on the men's side of things.

Pat Coleman, Ryan Scott, and Bob Quillman join Dave McHugh to chat about those who retired, the number of wins and the high-level of success they had, and even if trying to have a Mt. Rushmore of DIII coaching who might be considered (some coaches you may have forgotten about are mentioned).

Plus - if not for the number of significant retirements, the biggest news in Division III off-season so far would likely be Eric Bridgeland picking up and moving to Southern California. Bridgeland joins Dave to talk about his Whitman program, the success, and the decision to start anew at Redlands and the SCIAC.
