I agree with sac on the minutes played... an extremely unathletic 6'10" player, who never sees meaningful minutes, is definitely inflating the numbers.

Also, we've seen plenty of valuable short guards over the last several seasons. I'll take another Chad Carlson, Danny Beckman, Dante Hawkins, or Riley Lewis at Hope any day!

You mean Jason, right?

I understand the minutes played piece - but that would be the answer to a different question.  The question/discussion was around rosters, so that's what I evaluated (which is of course much simpler than having to factor in minutes played).  I also think (since we were talking about recruits and their impact on roster height) that rosters make more sense - since we have no idea of what mintues (if any) a recruit might play.

Annecdotally, as I went through the rosters, there were just as many 5-x guys with little playing time as there were 6-xx guys (based on my memory of course).  I suspect the results might not be all that different if we factor in playing time.

I started to try to go further back in looking at the rosters, but surprisingly, most schools don't have roster available further back than 2012 (some not even that early).

For those who missed it, and being they are women-only this board may not pick it up, but Saint Mary called off the winter season yesterday. There is a chance others in the conference do as well just from me checking how the wind is blowing ... but time will tell. A little too early to say for sure.

Either or... I meant Danny, but only because I couldn't remember if Jason was sub 6'0" or not.
Let's go Dutchmen!

Jason Beckman was listed as 5-11 on Hope's rosters.

Hope's rosters are archived back to the 2012/13 season

Olivet 65, Eastern Michigan 94 is yesterday's score.  Apparently Derrick Johnson scored 26 points against Centrall Michigan, but he did not play against Eastern Michigan.  Does anyone know the reason?

Last night's score was Olivet 55, Ferris State 105.  Again no sign of Derrick Johnson, who scored 26 points in the first Olivet game and has not played since then.  What is going on with him?

Ferris State's website reports yesterdays scheduled Olivet/Ferris State game was cancelled due to a presumptive covid-19 positive test on Olivet's team.  The Comets have cancelled both games vs Lourdes and Mt. St. Joseph for next week already.

Olivet's next game is a non-conference game scheduled vs Calvin on Jan 16.

Gut feeling is getting info on players is going to be pretty difficult this year without direct access.  No fans to see in game injuries, no student body right now to see crutches across campus etc etc etc.

Olivet's also been playing without Chris Martin.

I can make an assumption that due to the extended break Chris went home to California, but I really don't know.  A lot of crazy this year.

6'3 G TJ McKenzie now listed on Hope's roster.  If I remember correctly, he only played a partial season on JV last year.  A little surprising to see his name - thought he might have decided to focus solely on football last year

I see Stetson transfer Jarret Griffith is not.
