That seems likely. More and more schools down south are renting out their gyms for D3 snowbird tourneys.

Rollins enrollment is roughly the same size as Hope.

I believe Wooster has gone to Florida a few times and played strictly D3 games at various facilities down there.   They seem to be good about getting random tournaments in random places  (Daytona, Puerto Rico, Arizona)

Florida colleges and universities that fit the classic small-private-liberal-arts-college profile of D3 tend to be either D2 or NAIA. The Sunshine State has proven to be stony soil upon which to plant the seed of D3. I don't know if any Floridian school other than Palm Beach Atlantic has ever even contemplated D3 membership, and PBAU lost interest in pursuing D3 membership rather quickly.

A late adjustment to the Calvin schedule has the Knights traveling to Winter Park, FL, for a holiday tourney with host Rollins College along with the College of Wooster and Emerson College (Boston): https://calvinknights.com/sports/mbkb/2022-23/schedule
The shift from a Southern California tournament was necessitated when one of the invited schools pulled out. The match-up with the Fighting Scots of Wooster gives Calvin another in-region game against a traditionally strong program.

A D2 hosting three D3s makes for an interesting event

The participants also includes Augsburg. Maybe Rollins College is just hosting and not even playing?

If it's games against two of Wooster, Augsburg, and Emerson, I like that much much better than at Caltech and Redlands.

Thanks. I'm a big talker, so we'll see if I make it over there. I was excited when the Final Four was moved to Fort Wayne and I have yet to make it there.  ::) (Not completely my fault!)

Completely understandable Greek. We all know how it goes...........happy wife, happy life.  ;)
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)

Well, I didn't mean to imply that. Moreso the Covid years.

Finally made the trip last year after having tickets in hand for the Final Four cancelled by COVID in 2020. It was a long time in coming but one of the best basketball trips I've ever made - even as a "neutral" party. Highly recommend for all D3 basketball fans within reasonable proximity to take advantage of having the D3 Final Four closer to home. Hopefully it gets to have a nice long run in Fort Wayne.

But why did you miss this season?  Be honest.  :P

Has Fort Wayne been extended through 2026?

I'll need to go next season.

I think the 1st year, Oshkosh won it, I had a family emergency that prevented me from coming. The next two years was Covid and this past year was Killer Queen, surprise late birthday present from wife. LOL. I don't regret missing 3 blowouts at the Final Four.

Thanks! Only six hours away so I have no excuse...

As long as Killer Queen is not in town that weekend, lol.

HOPEful

I truthfully thought for a moment that Killer Queen was the pseudonym that you chose for your wife. When I realized that it was a band, I had to google them to find out they are a Queen Tribute band.

We've got a Baldwin Wallace fan or two over on the football boards. Killer Queen would probably be a more appropriate moniker for a yellow jacket. Or a hornet? Any K College fans around these days?

... Which is why is continues to boggle the mind why D3 schools don't mine states like Florida for basketball talent, particularly post players, due to the limited number of collegiate playing opportunities. In addition, add states like Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas to that list...

If you think southern dudes won't come north for colleges, simply peruse D3 football rosters of schools that place a relative import on football - you'll be very surprised to see the litany of hometowns from well below the Mason-Dixon Line appearing on said rosters.

For those that still posit "guys from warm weather states aren't going to want to head up north for college thanks to the cold winter temps", add Colorado, Utah, and Washington state to this list instead. These cold/cooler weather states have a robust basketball culture with relatively limited D3 options.
