My guess is that KVS would be watching Andy Venema, but that's pure speculation...

Andy Venema has the talent to play in the MIAA.  If he is going to play for KVS(or anyone else for that matter) he is going to have to increase his effort and intensity
tenfold to survive.

Once he decided to dominate in the state championship, he dominated.

Veldhouse, Veltema, Veenstra, and Venema?  Add one more V name to the one already there and the other 3 potential and Calvin will could have a 5 V lineup!  And the roman numeral for 5 is V! The V Vs!

See what the offseason can do to people?

How about a sixth V for the coach?

VIV

you mean like V's V Vs?

I'm pretty confident that Andy Venema won't be playing for any MIAA team. I believe either Cornerstone or Davenport will be his destination.

One of his former coaches told me that Aquinas was in the running because he is also
a very good baseball player.

"Sinecure." Wow Greg, using that obscure word is worthy of some good karma. What are you trying to do, give the MIAA board some style and class?

It would be purely accidental on my part.  ;D

So what have we decided is the appropriate time for disclosing what we have heard about recruitment?  I have heard (3rd hand-his family member to my family member to me) about a high school senior planning on going to an MIAA school.  He is a role player on a high school team that went moderately deep in the HS tournamant.  I am doubtful he will make Varsity right away. Can I post or should we wait till it is more formal?

My opinion - I always lean toward this - if the individual involved is telling other people (outside of their trusted family circle), it's basically public knowledge and free to be discussed.  The other scenario is if the school or coaches are talking about it - same thing - it's free to be discussed.  Other than that, I would not say a thing.

There really is nothing formal - no signing or anything like that.  The only real confirmation we ever have is enrollment at the school, and they show up for try-outs.

FDF: If memory serves correct an athlete needs to do more than just enroll, and attend try-outs.  Not sure how complicated it gets, but there is some paper work required by the NCAA to make sure a player is kosher.  A team/school has to certify or make sure all players are qualified, have eligibility etc.  Probably is less @ D3 level than at D1 or 2 when scholarship money is involved.  A player going from one school to another needs to get a release from former school.  The NCAA site expalins it quite well.

What FDF said was that the only REAL confirmation was when they are actually participating.  Even coaches have been taken by surprise now and again, even after seeming commitments.  Thus the "believe it when I see it" confirmation.

D-III student-athletes do not need to go through the NCAA clearinghouse.

In order for a school to announce legally that a player is attending, said person must have paid their deposit.
