I'm pretty sure (almost positive) that Hodgson is not a Hope alum - infact I talked about it with Greg Immink at the game, and he was also sure that was wrong.

You'll have to take it up with Hope, then. He's listed in the alumni notes on p. 18:

I actually meant to say that I'm quite sure he is not an alum of Hope basketball

I can answer the mystery surrounding Peter Hodgson.

I had to pull the yearbook out on this one and well, once I saw who it was it was like "oh yeah" I remember that guy.

Peter was more likely known as Cal Hodgson while at Hope, he didn't play basketball  his Sr year, possibly as a Fr or So.  But he did play Tennis for Hope and was indeed 6-5.  As I recall he frequented the pickup games at the  Dow Center often.

As Pat noted with his link (which I'm very impressed with by the way)..........Cal or Peter lives in Fowlerville which is just down the highway from Lansing.

Pretty interesting........esp since he's my age and playing pro ball. ;D

I'm gonna go back to laying on my couch now. :D ;)

Nice.

One of my current favorite things to do is send alpha pages to people containing Chuck Norris facts.

I usually wait untill they're in a meeting.  :D

Pat, you really are an awesome administrator. How do you find time to locate trivia on a person most of us have never even heard of? I thought you had a family.

For those of you with interest in Floyd Brady, the link Pat posted contains a photo of Brady taking a hook shot along the baseline for his 2000th point. Take a look at the length of his arms. Another reason he was so tough to stop.

Thanks for clearing that one up - and of course, after all that, the guy wasn't even with the team on Friday?????

Floyd Brady was probably kind of like Cazzie Russell was to Michigan at those times.  Although Hope did not have the team success that Michigan did then.

Uggghhhh.  I'm going through withdrawl.   :o

No "real" games to talk about.  Its still a bit early to talk about recruits (or transfers  ;D  thought I would put it first before someone else chimed in!)  And last night's "Big Dance" game didn't help either.  Maybe tonight's Ladies' "Big Dance" game will be better.  We can only HOPE.

Flying Dutch Fan

I agree - last nights game just made things worse.  Hardly felt like a championship.  Of course it did make me think back a few weeks to our ladies winning it all, and that helped.

I could turn this into a bigger deal if you want, but Shilts and Aultman both came in as CC players who were at their programs for two years. So technically Shilts transfered but his elibility was up at KVCC so that's not the same as a 4 year school. Now Aultman played two years at MCC went to GVSU and was red shirted. During that season, he was told he was not going to play the next year what exactly that means, I'm not sure, but that's what he was told. So he really never played there and apparently wasn't going to. So that's not quite the same either. No one ever questioned the transfer of Voison. I think it was understood that Wesley wasn't going to give him PT or possilby even a scholarship anymore. Fine, I didn't think anything of it. However, when a progrem brings in Wolfe, Hare, Vander Hiede, Van Solkema who were on scholarship  to  pay 28 g a year. It looks weird. Especially when a player is thrown in the mix half way through a season. That doesn't mean that Hope cheats, but no one can look at that and not be suspious. No matter how darkly tinted your glasses are, deep down even Hope fans have to wonder.
"I started to look around at the fans and the team and I was sitting in the back, and I looked around and everybody was having a good time and that day, it truly made me realize what Michigan was about. It took me down, it humbled me. It taught me how to be a Michigan man instead of Jason Avant."

SBell

Suspicious of what? Does Hope have coaches stalking DI lockerrooms across the country, counter-offers in hand?

Shareef23

Come on SBell. It's not like Hope didn't know how to get ahold of these kids, if they wanted too. There not some random people from outside the area. I believe Hope probably recruited all these kids out of high school so they know who they were. I'm not saying there is something going on, but it just looks suspisious and that is why people comment on Hope's transfers and not other schools. Esp. when you get so many in one year.
