I think this was discussed a LONG time ago and we all concluded that each of Hope's transfers was recruited by the Dutchmen when they were seniors in high school.  Sounds like they were tired of dealing with the "stuff" that goes with a "full ride"...I.E.  mandatory off season workouts, film time, practices on Sundays, etc.  Oh, and I almost forgot, probably not having alot of fun.

I think the fact that these kids contacted the coaches about transferring says alot about what they want out of an education.  It is a game, the last I checked and games are PLAYED to have fun.  Let this whole issue lay down please.

However, when a progrem brings in Wolfe, Hare, Vander Hiede, Van Solkema who were on scholarship  to  pay 28 g a year. It looks weird. Especially when a player is thrown in the mix half way through a season. That doesn't mean that Hope cheats, but no one can look at that and not be suspious. No matter how darkly tinted your glasses are, deep down even Hope fans have to wonder.

If spending millions on a new fieldhouse is buying these guys then okay, but i'm pretty sure they know about that when they were originally recruited by Hope.  Your skepticism about how these guys ended up at Hope is ridiculous.  I'm pretty sure if you compared the amount of financial aid athletes received at Hope compared to other MIAA schools you'd be suprised at how little financial aid the majority of Hope's athletes receive.

I you read the last couple pages of posts there seemed to be some arguement as to why Hope transfers are discussed and not others. I was telling you why it was discussed. I never said they did anything wrong. There are many things that come into play whenever a student transfers schools. I was just saying by the sher number of them and where they come from is obviously going to lead into speculation. Some of which my be justified, but neither one of us really knows. And by the way, for any of us posters to act like we know how much financial aid a player gets at any school is pure speculation, no matter how much you think you know, there's lots of loopholes for lots of kids, most of which I'm sure are legitement. And to say that my opinion and many others is ridiculous pretty much shows in itself how intollerent you are of views others than your own. And DVS and MVH both have stated that they transfered to be closer to home. I think both of these guys were perfectly willing to put in the work that it took to play D1 PS Games are first and foremost played to win!

Did anyone ever consider that maybe DVS left Leastern Michigan University for Hope because he wanted an actual college education?

So, appearances are everything? Just because it seems "suspious" (or is it "suspisius"?"), it must be untoward ... despite having provided no actual evidence of wrong-doing.

Let it go, and it's spelled "suspicious".

Actually, apperence is everything SBell. When it comes to peoples perception of a program. But you obviously aren't actually reading the posts. I said about ten times that I have no clue if they cheat or care for that matter. I was just responding to why Hope gets critisism for taking transfers and other programs don't. I was simply saying by the sher number of transfers, it's going to raise eyebrows. That's it.

Just wondering.....Olivet gives a HUGE financial break for juco transfers on tuition etc.  I am wondering if other schools do the same for transfers or if they lose out because they didn't go to that particular school in the first place.

BTW, you DO play the games to win, but when it seems like a job and the fun is lost, these guys probably were ready to have fun again.

INSIGHT:  I have heard that the financial aid packages at Hope are overall LOWER than competing MIAA schools.

Appearance is only everything to those who are shallow, suspicious, and jealous.  Why does this hit such a nerve with you?  Why do you even care?  You state that you don't have facts, and yet you will throw speculation out there.  That's irresponsible.  Whether you're burning with jealousy, or just bored and looking to stir the pot, let it go.  Casting dispersions on something about which you are completely ignorant is rude and stupid.  To quote President Lincoln (paraphrase): "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak, and remove all doubt."  Give silence a shot.

That was Samual Clemons aka Mark Twain who said that not Pres. Lincoln. And btw the way the nerve struck was yours and I really think it is you that is jealous of Calvin's banners and recent Final Four apperence. My post never said Hope cheated and I don't think they did. I mearly stated the reason that people talk about more than when other schools get transfers. You don't need to defend your school when none is needed. To me, your adament defense, name calling, and jealousy comments indicate irresponsiblity not my posts as in answering a question and giving the honest answer. Apperence is not shallow. PRograms that appear dirty usual are, Florida, UNLV, Cinn, Fab Five Michigan. Duke earded their apperence and are respected for it. So have Hope and Calvin! Once again, I never said Hope cheated and said that I could never prove so without facts. But whenever a school gets that many transfers for scholarship schools in one year, people notice more than Albion or Calvin getting a kid or two. Do you see my point at all?

Lincoln and Twain both may have used this quote, but it originally was used in Proverbs17:28; "even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent."

Shareef23 - so here's my argument with what you are saying...

Actually - we don't have to wonder.  Don't assume we are suspicious, just because you are.

Come on SBell. It's not like Hope didn't know how to get ahold of these kids, if they wanted too. There not some random people from outside the area.

Considering that what you are describing is a violation of NCAA rules, I would say that you are accusing Hope of wrong doing.

If appearance is everything - and you have made the point that it appears to be "cheating" - then you are saying that Hope cheats.  You can't make that statement, talk about the appearance of wrong doing, and then argue that you never said anything bad about the program - appearance is everything.

Actually CM is jealous of your spelling and grammar  ;D (had to lighten things up a little).  Besides - we'll never be jealouse of anything that is maroon and gold (or whatever those colors are).

What about those beautiful maroon and gold banners that hang from the rafters at the
fieldhouse?  You're telling us there is no envy that the ceiling at the "dick" is empty of
such banners?
