Just to calm a few fears - it's a non-MIAA player who is transferring to another non-MIAA school - neither of the schools are DIII

interesting to see Eric Elliot return to Hope to coach the JV squad.  i'm sure more than a few hollanders were disappointed to see Carlson leave (don't worry, he'll be back), but it is great for the program to see Elliot return.

He is probably one of the most likeable and successful players (during and after school) the MIAA has seen.  It's wonderful to have him back on campus guiding the next generation of dutchmen.

could be an interesting interview process when gvw finally steps aside if elliot really enjoys coaching and carlson returns to apply for the position.  I still give the edge to carlson since he's the holland boy much like gvw, but it will be intriguing to see what elliot does with the jvs.

And the news is out - new Hope JV coach and Varsity assitant - Eric Elliot.  Chad Carlson is off to Penn State to get his doctorate degree.

Is that a step towards teaching/coaching at Hope?  Hope brought in a teacher first, coach second for track and field.

When I read this article, there was a real estate add on the side with huge houses being offered for really cheap! Well, at least compared to The Los Angeles/San Diego area! Lol... totally gonna save up and then move to holland and buy a house in a few years.  :P

Odd with no games opening weekend. That'll push back the start of practice.

I guess the "little sisters of the poor" don't want to go to Holland to be cannon fodder at the De Vos.
re; Eric E.  This is a good move for Hope.  Only point may be it was in 89-91 when Eric was a stud in Holland, and today's players only know of him from the history books.  With all the "suits" on the Hope bench it is hard to tell what affect or input any of them really has with GVW.
With Voohees going to Kansas we have one less "prima donna" to
talk about. ;D

Ok, since there's not much else to talk about, I'll pose a question:

If you were scheduling for Hope and only had these two choices, which one would you choose?

A. Play a game against Andrews University prior to the Van Andel tournament

B. Start the season with the Van Andel tournament

Is there some link between when practice can begin relative to the date of your first game?

Open in Grand Rapids.

Actually, I guess not. I must've been thinking about football.

Play against Andrews.  It gives the players some real game experience and allows players deep on the bench to get minutes early in the season.

West Ottawa would be a better challenge.

Word on the street is that Derek Griffin from MCC has committed to Calvin College. He plays the two and should compete for playing time, perhaps even start. Have a great fourth!
"I started to look around at the fans and the team and I was sitting in the back, and I looked around and everybody was having a good time and that day, it truly made me realize what Michigan was about. It took me down, it humbled me. It taught me how to be a Michigan man instead of Jason Avant."

Might be some bulletin-board material here - the MLB lineups have been announced, and the MLB best Tigers got two spots (Pudge and Kenny).

The Red Sox and Yankees have 5 of the 8 field starters - they are HOW many games behind?  But the field starters are the fans' fault.  Let's go to the pitchers and subs.

Despite the best team ERA in MLB (by a comfortable margin) the Tigers have only Rogers on the team - the White Sox have THREE pitchers (yeah, like they are all more deserving than Verlander, Bonderman, Robertson, Zumaya, and for that matter Miner).  Quite a statement by Guillen on the same day his pitchers give up 20 hits and 15 runs to the pathetic Cubs!

And NO subs - I guess Leyland IS doing it all by smoke-and-mirrors! >:(  Obviously, the Tigers have no talent!
