Sager hit the nail on the head.  Definitely a poor showing for the league last night.  Adrian gets past a really bad team in Oberlin and Kalamazoo looses big to Ill. Benedictine.

Some stats that stick out from those games:

- Kzoo shoots 23.8% in the first half and 33.3% in the second

- Kzoo has 9 assist to 26 turnovers

- Adrian shot 65.4% in the second half

- Adrian shoots 30.8% from the line - not gonna get away with that very often

Hey boys...any win is a good win for Adrian, that is first and foremost.  Second, have your seen their guards play from Oberlin?  They are athletic and I'm sure gave Adrian problems.  I know anyone in the nation would take Quinton Spencer.  He lit up Adrian for 31 points last year.  So maybe they're bad this year, but last year that kid gave a VERY GOOD Adrian team fits.  But the Spencer kid, 0-8, is tough.  I'm glad to see Adrian tamed him last night.

So yeah all in all, I was pretty Generous, but you know what coaches say...a win is a good win and it is better than a good loss.   8)

Tough night for the Hornets, no doubt.  Third game in four days, and its a week night game on the road in Chicago.  They came out flat, only had 13 points at halftime.  Kzoo needs to turn it around fast, have a good practice today, and compete like hell against Elmhurst tomorrow.

There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I have to say, I think that is the first time I have ever heard someone refer to a win over Oberlin as being a "good win". :D  I wouldn't necessarily call any win a good win.  A win is better than  a "good loss", although I'd be more inclined to say there isn't really such a thing as a "good loss" .   I would, however, wager to bet that the Adrian coaches and players couldn't be celebrating too much the fact that they only beat a winless team with 8 bodies suited up by 10 points.

I don't think they're celebrating.  I'm sure they're happy to get a win, but they know there are things that are going to have to improve in order to be competitive in the league.  Particularly distressing are 3pt and FT percentages from yesterday's game.  Here's hoping they turn it around for Thursday, and regain that Milk Jug!

sac

I dare say the Bulldogs may have been a bit unfocused for the Yeoman.  Afterall, big local rival game coming up and well the Yeoman are the Yeoman.  I think the FT stat says it all......you have to be real brain foggy to collectively shoot 30% from the stripe.

Either that or the Yeoman knew to foul Nokovich, 0-5 whats up with that....little rusty eh?  Even without him the Dogs were 4-8.

I know I'd be a little unenthusiastic about suiting up against Oberlin, a team who's best product might end up being this years MIAA MVP.

I'll give the Bulldogs a pass on this one.  ;D

Hope #8.......<sigh>  I was hopeing the Dutchmen could sneak under the radar for awhile.  Oh well.

The word is out on the Flying Dutchmen, sac.
It's good to see the MIAA getting some respect.
Even the Knights continue to get a few votes.
Can't say I understand the Brits ranked ahead of Hope at this stage, but it is very, very early for those who do the rankings, too!

Calvin (now 6-3) had a strong second half to pull away from Aquinas.  After trailing 31-30 at the half, the Knights put the clamps on the Saints in the final 20 minutes to claim the game.
Offensive leaders for Calvin:
Kyle Snoeyink with a career high of 18
Caleb Veldhouse with 16
Kyle Trewhella with 12
Andy Draayer with 10
Josh Meckes with 8

Final from Aquinas:
Calvin 69
Aquinas 52

The Calvin team that played in the Select Bank Tournament is not the real Calvin team.   I think KVS has a better feel for what he has in his young players as the team has really improved in the last two weeks.

Has Tri-State abandonded their line change offense?  Their scoring is really down this year and only posted 57 points tonight.

sac

Ziggy Tri-State is playing "normal" basketball, which apparently is not always "good" basketball.  Yes, they abandoned the system they were using.

Other MIAA scores
Alma 103, Marygrove 79--2 in a row for the Scots!
Franklin 80, Tri-State 57

Down in Chicago

Hope 79 Trinity Christian 60

TC got it down to 10 after a few minutes of strange lineups, but Hope got their act together and coasted.  Sounds like defense did it again.

23 turnovers for TC, 17 steals for Hope...wow

Scoring for Hope Immink 14, Phillips 11,  Cramer 11, Voisin 10....lots of minutes for lots of people

So Hope's unbeaten, anybody else see that Aquinas upset coming from a mile away this Saturday?  ???
