One of my favorite quotes by Augustine is "Love God and do as you please."  To quote him fairly, "Who can be good, if not made so by loving?" and "If you but love God you may do as you incline."  Phillip Yancey adds, "He was entirely serious.  A person who truly loves God will be inclined to please God which is why Jesus and Paul both summed up the entire law in the simple command, "Love God."

Back to the Essentials quote.  It's a beautiful "doctrine."  The big challenge for me is not to make everything an "Essential!"

I think that was a Luther comment as well.  That comment is such a great reminder about the true and complete assurance we have in Christ.

No, I think this one is Augustine (without opining on the other). It's one of my favorite quotes of Augustine. I don't recall exactly where I read it -- the Confessions?

Another one I like, which may be Augustine, though I don't recall exactly where I read it: "The love with which we love each other is the Holy Spirit"...

Then there's this one: "Let's play ball!"

And finally, with apologies to Cubs fans--and Ernie--there's Augustine's most recognizable quote: "It's a beautiful day for a ballgame; let play two!" :)

My favorite Augustine quote is "By loving us, God makes us lovable." I don't consider myself terribly lovable a whole lot of the time, :-[ so it's a pretty important reminder for me!

And I'm sure that one is Augustine.  :P

I think we are going to alienate the people who come from non-christian schools pretty darn soon if, uh, we haven't already...  :D :-X
I believe that all of the MIAA schools have a religious affliation.  They should be well versed in theology and should have at least heard of Augustine and City of God.

Where can I find the live scoreboard for Calvin--anyone got a link?

27-20, K-Zoo leads with just over 3 minutes to go in the first.

Once again, sounds like Calvin is playing with no effort.

Zoerhof just picked up a technical with 2:03 left in the first half, the Knights just sound like they're playing without any emotion.

31-20

Their shooting seems to have turned with the weather.

Has anyone heard why the Adrian-Alma game is starting so late?  The MIAA site says there will be an 8:30 start time (approximately), but the online broadcast hasn't even started yet.

33-26 at the half, in favor of K

Doug Wentworth is "thinking more about the roast beef sandwich he's going to have when he gets home more than he's thinking about this ball game".

Valedhouse, Griffin, and Meckes all with 5 for Calvin.

37-35 Calvin

Calvin off to a better second half than first.  This poor first half play trend is really upsetting me, you can't always expect to come back.

At the half...

Adrian 35
Alma    23

One more solid half, men!

1:26 to go, 66-56 Calvin

Sounds like a good second half for the Knights.
