As an outsider to the Hope community, I would like to offer up comfort for all you Hope fans.  The loss to Calvin should not cause much concern.  Hope will not lose to Adrian or Tri-State.  I think Hope's last two games were not because they are slipping but more Albion and Calvin finally playing like everyone thought they would at the beginning of the year.  Remember Calvin was 'picked' to win the league and had a pre-season ranking of #8. Albion, I believe, was supposed to finish third.  Both teams seemed to underachieve greatly until the last few weeks.

Thanks slappy - but at least for me their is no great concern.  Sure, it really s*cks to lose to Calvin, but I actually think the loss to Calvin will be the most productive game that Hope has played this year.  Those blowout games are fun - but you really don't learn from them, and the certainly don't teach you much.  They probably could, but when you win by 40 it's kind of hard to honestly look at your performance and evaluate it and know where improvement is needed.  A game like Wednesdays provides a ton of learning, areas to improve, adjustments to be made, not to mention motivation.  To use a furnace analogy, Hope looked to be running on just the pilot light for much of the game on Wednesday.  Today that furnace is abalaze and is kicking out several million BTU's.  It's the kind of fire that doesn't go out for a long time - hopefully into March  :)

I wouldn't write off Adrian and Tri-State too quickly.  Both of these teams are also playing better than they did in the first half.  With the exception of Kazoo, every MIAA team that Hope has played has done better the second time around.  I recently saw Calvin play games against both Adrian and Hope, I must admit that while Hope has more offensive threats, Adrian clearly threw up a better defense.

Teams are beginning to position themselves for the MIAA tournament and I suspect there will be a few nail-biters before this thing is over.  March "madness" should live up to its billing.

I agree that the last three games will probably be closer than the first time through but I am confident Hope can win all three games. I have no doubt we will win once and guarantee that we host the MIAA tourney. But I think it is real important for Hope to win all three if it wants a chance at an at-large berth in the NCAA should it not win the MIAA tourney.

I predict a 12 point Hope victory tomorrow.

Between censoring the word 'sucks' and the amount of dancing around people did to avoid showing the text of a sign that included the word 'flamer,' this has got to be the cleanest basketball board in all of D3. This time I don't think there is risk of that opinion being hyperbole.

I remind you that this is the same board where, a few days ago, we were subjected to a filthy joke about Dutch girls on bicycles... ::)

My personal favorite is still "deer in the headlights" to describe Hope's "learning experience" Wed.  Painful as it was it is is better for Hope to have that "learning experience" now rather than in March. :)

Nah, Hope will handle Adrain and Alma pretty easily imo.  They beat Adrain by 39 at Adrian last time.  At tri-state might be the only close one.

Any mid-season transfers at Hope yet?

At this point it would actually qualify as an end-season, or at least a late-season transfer.

Negative karma for me!  It went from 9 to 8 right after you posted!  Though shall not beat a dead horse!

Will Weber be Adrian's whole team tomorrow against Hope?  He shot  66% last game and led the team in rebounds and points by a comfortable margin.

Perhaps, but it wasn't almcguirejr who smited you, just FYI. Three have smited you in the past 24 hours, however. Fun board. :)

I would not smite him for something I had alluded to hours earlier.
