So KVS is a genious again I see....... ::)

Takes a real great coach to have Derek Griffen take and hit a bomb from 28 feet.  ;)

Sorry but I don't see a great coaching effort from KVS this year, Calvin should have been right in the MIAA race and they played themselves out of it and were completely uncompetitive against good teams like Carthage, Wheaton, Lax, Wooster and once vs Hope.  Despite the great win last night, thats still mostly a 1 on 1 team, without Derek Griffen's fortunate transfer to Calvin the Knights have a miserable season by Calvin standards.

That is just how I see it.

Sac, once again your frustration seems to turn into sarcasm and putting words into other people's mouths.  No one said that KVS is a genius.  Regarding my own comments, I said that I think KVS did a great job of keeping his team fighting during a rocky season.  I know Calvin lost some very good talent and leadership from last year.  They are a very young team.  They were (I think) way over-ranked at the beginning of the season.  They lost 7 of their first 14 games, BUT they won 11 of their last 13 games (and the two they lost, they should have won!).  They played consistently inconsistent, but KVS has done what his stated goal was and that is to continue to make this team a better team.

I couldn't agree more with you.  Calvin has come a long way from the start of the season.  A ton of credit has to go to the coaching job that was done by VDS and the entire coaching staff.

sac, I thought you'd be above the lucky transfer comment.

Calvin Fans, You are dancing!!! You should all be very excited today and less sensitive over the KVS comments. I think everyone on this board has a great deal of respect for him. This just wasn't his best coaching job ever is all anyone is saying.

EDIT: I don't believe I lost karma for that post. Next time I comment on anything Calvin related I will be sure to ask Pat if he can just automatically dock me 5 karma points.

Hope fans should unite to Karma each other up because it seems any comment other than Calvin is all things holy upsets someone.
Tribes of primitve hunters, with rhinestone codpieces rampant, should build pyramids of Chevy engines covered in butterscotch syrup to exalt the diastolic, ineffable, scintillated and cacophonous salamander of truth which slimes and distracts from each and every orifice of your holy refrigerator.

Oh, I agree it's great to be in the tourny.

Just my opinion, but sometimes I think the comments made by Hope fans about KVS is just a projection of the frustrations they have with GVW.  And what appears the inability to have his teams win the final game of the season.

sac

Yeah really, who's sensitive now? :D

I've seen KVS for what 12 seasons, I do not agree that he had a great year coaching.  Thats all, Calvin should have been better from the start, I think I've seen them play good team basketball for about 15 minutes this year.

As for Mr. Griffen..............look there have been 4,000-million posts over the past 18 months deriding Hope for their policy of accepting transfers.........I think its highly ironic that a) Calvins best current player is a transfer  b) no one from Calvin seems to recognize how lucky they are to have him and the MAJOR impact he had on that team.

Sorry my opinion doesn't jibe with yours.................oh yeah and welcome back to board Calvin posters we missed you for a couple weeks.  ;)

Maybe I'll stop getting blamed for that then. :)

I'm not sure how many posters there on our this board, but I can only imagine that dozens have tuned in to try to be involved, only to give up.  That explains my absence for several weeks.  Thought I'd try again.  Maybe next year.

Just got home from last night's game (not really!  :)), but I was REALLY glad to get within 5 miles of home as the freezing rain began to fall - that was not fun! Got a later start home because we just sat in our seats after the game and just soaked things in, therefore closing the DeVos (by the way that's the name of the fieldhouse for those of you who don't know the CORRECT name!).  All I can say is, "What a game."  I kept thinking that if these guys played the game every day, one week it would be Hope 4-3 and the next week it would be Calvin 4-3. It was just what we have all come to expect and love, a GREAT rivalry series. It was the epitome of the saying, "Someone has to win and someone has to lose."  But what a game!

KnightSlappy

sac, I agree.  Calvin really should accept DI mid-season transfers like they did with Derek Griffin.  Your comparison was very fair.

sac

Yeah thats true, lots have disappeared.  I think the karma crap has more to do with that.........really lame.

But I don't think giving up because someone disagree's with you is the way to go.

99.9% of the time I'm posting, laughing, smiling having a good time.  People think we take this seriously and we don't.  I welcome your thoughts, they're refreshing.  But come on, people are going to disagree with you all the time, its what discussion is about.  People disagree with me all the time.

We probably poke a little fun at each other and people who haven't been around might not understand that dynamic..........but its there and most of us probably have a good laugh about it.

Ahhh.........days after a big Hope/Calvin matchup are always tense, have a nice cup of tea, read a book, come back and discuss Calvin's pairing for next weekend.

Usually about the time of the year this board starts to get a little...um....touchy.

I'm actually going to play a game of Scrabble by the fire.  I absolutely DON'T mind opposing viewpoints.  Really, really, really!  It's a lot of the other stuff that gets exhausting, the illogical reasoning and name-calling and bringing things up from way back when, and all the poor suffering dead horses.  I have really appreciated those posters who have remained calm and rational throughout the posts.  Thank you!!

Congrats to the Calvin Knights for winning the MIAA tourney, and earning their ticket to the BIG DANCE.  Another great finish to another classic rivalry matchup.

I suppose.  But until the last one is won, I'll keep my opinion.  ;)
