Hope won 84-66 - a freshman came of the bench for Hope in that game and scored 11 points in 12 minutes - Andy Phillips

Amazing to think we are just one year removed from having Andy on the court. Speaking of past injuries earlier and the knee that I believe significantly was a draw back in Jeff Carlson's career that finger injury to Andy, right before or after Greg's injury in 04-05, (that was one awful month of November for Hope, three serious injuries and the whole players who enjoyed the "college life" too much and got suspended ordeal) was also a serious blow to the team and Andy. I never felt his shooting touch recovered from that injury in 04-05 or even last year. Too bad, Andy was another quality guy who represented Hope well for 4 years.

Anyone remember who the third injury was to? I am almost certain there were three injuries but now I can't think of who the third player injured was. I know Voison broke his foot right at the end of the year but I am pretty sure there was another injury in practice or a game in November or was it just all the suspended seniors that I am thinking of.

Actually it was Jake Hogeboom - hurt his back and was out for 2-3 games about the same time as Andy's injury.  Cramer played a lot of point guard during that stretch

That's the one I was thinking. I knew it was not nearly as serious as the other injuries and that whoever it was, Jake, only missed a couple games compared to the season for Greg and the entire non-conference season almost for Andy. As I recall Andy returned for the Russ DeVette tourney in a small role before starting in the MIAA season.

Haven't seen it but I know Jake left Hope after one year to get his real estate license and work with his dad, when he wasn't busy on Survivor Guatemala.

Students will be able to purchase 1 ticket Fac/Staff will be able to purchase 2 tickets Season Ticket Holders will be able to purchase only the amount which they have during the regular season.

Tickets will go on sale beginning at NOON on Wednesday.

Please know that this is not Hope's fault or Aurora's fault and treat both ticket staffs respectfully. The NCAA decides on the venues for these games.

Tickets are $7 for Adults and $4 for students and senior citizens

I gotta chuckle out of that statement in bold.

ChicagoHopeNut

Has anyone checked out the projected RPI rankings if RPI was used this year instead of QoWI. According to the RPI Hope comes in at 65 and certainly would have been left home this year thanks to the fact that our opponents' win percentage was a weak 47.4% Lets Hope the MIAA has a much more respectable non-conference year next year or the MIAA will certainly be limited to one NCAA berth.

Calvin came in at 89 on the list.

Somehow I doubt the NCAA also makes the call on whether Friday tickets are sold for a split session or one combined ticket (though given how ill-planned this seems, perhaps they are behind this). Does no one look at the attendance list to see that they sent 2 of the top 3 teams in D3 attendance to the same site?

Even as a Hope fan...I have to say that it wouldn't be fair if they did take into account attendance by a fan base...when they decide where teams should play. that would be an unfair advantage for Hope/Calvin. Just b/c we have a bigger fanbase...doesn't mean we deserve to be treated different from say a Mississippi College (I think it was them)or whatever team played @ Witt with Hope last year. They had 40 or so fans for the game...yet those 40 fans were just as passionate.
It's like trying to say that since Hope has this huge/beautiful arena...they should host every year so all the fans can go to the game.

Just a thought that might get me lots of negative karma......I have always found it interesting that people get angry that coaches wives and families and players families get first dibs on tickets......

Why shouldn't they?  If there aren't enough left, too bad...there is a great radio station that broadcasts online.  The people that get them are invested in the program in a big way, that is why they are the "haves".  The rest of us are not the have nots, we are the "give nots" (well, except for alumni funds and tickets :D.

Having gone through these complaints as a coach and having my wife hear about it has soured me to them I guess......sorry for venting. (please dont smite ;)

They do, however.

And just because you guys have big gyms doesn't mean the NCAA should take homecourt advantage away from a team that earned it. Not everyone is as blessed as Hope and Calvin are. Welcome to the rest of Division III. This is what it's like out here.

hshoopster -

I was almost on the way out for a "rest-of-the-day" meeting (aauuugggghhhh, could be a LATE night...) and signed on just to give you karma.  Being a very loyal fan myself, I couldn't agree with you more. When I first heard that tickets would be scarce for the game this weekend, my first thought was (kinda like the Titanic, "Women and Children first!!), the families of the players MUST have first priority!  (then me and my other loyal mates next ofcourse!  ;D )

So karma to you!

Now off to the meeting!

And a split session does nothing to take away home court advantage.  In the first game, there is no home court - so split the tickets 50/50.  In the second game, Aurora can still keep 2/3 of the tickets and maintain their advantage.  If the NCAA is making this decision, why do they do so in a vacuum?

I've heard a couple of stories this week about the H_ _ _, UofC game tell me if they are true.

One is that the game will be played in a wet garden with the players wearing wooden shoes.

The second is that 1/3 of the H_ _ _ student section is wearing white, another third is wearing the H_ _ _ orange, and that the final third is wearing the color green in conjunction with the annual St. Patty's Day festivities in the next couple of weeks.  Rumor has it that GVS will be wearing the Leprechaun outfit provided by that school in South Bend with the Golden Helmets and Touchdown JC.

Any truth to this
