Halftime in Holland

Hope 47  Grace Bible 22

Hope's led by double digits since the 15 minute mark, minus a brief minute at 9.  Grace Bible got stuck on 16 for nearly the final 9 minutes of the half.  Strong finish to the half gives Hope their lead, finishing on a 24-9 run.

Reimink 14, Krombeen 7, Bowser 6

9 Different Hope players have scored, 8 have taken a 3 point shot for 5-16.  Difference is really in turnovers, Grace Bible has 13 to Hope's 3.

Good response coming off last weekend and exams I suppose.

Marygrove beat Purdue-North Central 74-70 in the first game.

Hope 78 Grace Bible 64

Meh second half from the Dutchmen, they do enough to get the 'W'.  Hope used a 10-0 run starting at about 11 min to put the lead at 29, then Grace went on a nice run of their own to close the game 23-8 for the final margin.

Reimink 21, Bowser 14, Krombeen 9

Nothing real special about this one.

Forgot to mention, Brandon Bosch is out for a couple weeks with a stress facture in his foot.  Brandon's been a bright spot ever since being called into duty late in the season last year.

Reminder that the women play after the men tommorrow afternoon against NAIA ranked Cornerstone.

sac's game summary is right on, as usual.  I think it's tough to play in a game like that - no students around, the crowd not really into it (especially anywone who was there for the first game - talk about painful to watch).  But a W is a W, and lots of guys got minutes, which is also a good thing.  On to tomorrow!

sac (or anyone else at the game),

Did Hope play incredibly well the first half, or are rumors of GB's improvement unfounded?  Is this in fact the same ol' Grace Bible we know and love (to beat up on)?

Are we sure that it is a stress fracture, or has he secretly defected to MSU?

It seems an inability to control turnovers is Grace Bible's main problem when they play at the next level of competition. When playing Calvin, the Tigers lost the ball 19 times in the first half. I think their offensive firepower is pretty decent but it's tough to score when you're giving the ball away that many times.

i thought hope played pretty good last really good in the 1st half then lep up in the 2nd half  and it was good to see nate king play and the entire bench
i love hope  sports all of them are really great to watch

Hope played well, not incredibly well in the first half (Hope shot 39.5% from the floor).  I would call Grace an improved version of the typical Grace teams,  Their defense has improved, and they can definitely score.

Is there any reason why we haven't seen King, Venema, or Carter?

I'm relying on the livestats, which does not list any of the three.  Did they in fact see minutes?

Overall, an unexciting game this afternoon. Poor shooting all around.

Venema, Carter, and King were the only three to not play.

With the way that Krombeen played today, I don't see any reason that Carter will get much, if any, playing time for a while.

Boxscore says no.

I missed this game completely so have nothing to add, except Hope continues to struggle shooting the ball.

Good news is, they were in a struggle at  halftime and came out the second half and held the Mustangs to 11 points untill the 2 minute mark.

Bad news of course is it was Marygrove.  But they can hang with the MIAA I guess

Adrian 79 Marygrove 72 OT
Kalamazoo 78 Marygrove 72

....interesting tidbit, Marygrove has not played a "home" game this year and only has 6 scheduled.  They play at U-D Jesuit High School.

I thought the game was in "cover your eyes" territory. Marygrove did a nice job getting after Hope defensively, but that doesn't explain the shooting percentage. I'm not sure Hope has very good shooters, and I really would like to know what has happened to Tanis's shot.

It looks as if Krombeen is moving his way into a starting role. Carter is buried pretty deeply on the bench right now.
