From an outsider's perspective I doubt there is a "void" that has to be filled.  The minutes that S & S played can be easily absorbed by the rest of the bench, and perhaps a few minutes here or there by starters.  From a selfish (Calvinistic) standpoint the reduction in the number of (just about equally talented) players fighting for the same minutes  can only mean that those players seeing time will get better this year, and next year.   :)  Stop concentrating on the cloud, and look at the potential silver lining! :o

Ok, why was he ruled ineligible?

Can't blame it on Treehouse huh SAC???

I assume (you know what that means) it had to do with his credit hours or being the end of the semester, his grades...

I'm sure though that bad grades didn't just appear out of nowhere this week!!!

Just popped in my head, the last couple of in-season JV callups I can recall have worked out pretty well for the Dutchmen.

I believe they were Jesse Reimink and Don Overbeek.

Not 100% sure but I dont think Reimink played at all on the JV....The stats say he was the leading rebounder in a game against Andrews u on
Nov. 22 of his frosh year....I know he wasnt on the varsity roster/in the team picture but they had a ton of early season injuries that year.

Jesse was listed on the JV roster to start his Freshman year, yet he never played a game on JV.  He has spent his entire career on varsity.

I only remember the part where Jesse started the year on the JV, couldn't recall what games he did or not play in.  Either way he wasn't on varsity initially.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The great Finlandia/Alma doubheader was postponed tonight.  Not sure whats going to happen with tommorrow or if tonights games gets played later.  Maybe they'll play two tommorrow?  :D

Anderson 69  Trine 52 ,  expected.  Anderson's one to keep on the radar, 6-3 with 2 losses to #1 Washington by 2, and #2 UW Platteville by 2, and a  loss to Franklin.

Cool experience to play at Conseco Fieldhouse for these guys,  not so cool the Pacers game beforehand went 2 OT.

i think hope will come out today and play a good game but the gym where they play they usually have a hard of getting victorys there i hope they win today
i love hope  sports all of them are really great to watch

A quick check of Hope's archives for the 2005-06 season shows that Hope played 8 games before Christmas that year and Reimink's name appears in the box score for 4 of them (games 2, 4, 5, and 7). His minutes were not significant in any of them. I didn't check the rest of the season but going by my equally bad memory, I think Reimink's presence became more important after the conference season began because of Evan Hare's injury issues. The link for that year's stats are below.

There is a very interesting and informative aside in today's Sentinel  ::) disclosing changes in the Hope lineup beginning with today's game against Aquinas. Bunn is moving from the point to the 2 guard position and Krombeen is stepping into the point position. Bosch will back up Bunn (once Bosch gets healthy) and Carter will back up Krombeen. So who will be left out of this equation when Bosch returns?  Ty Tanis.

OK:  Thanks for the link to the Sentinel article.  I qoute" It's really too bad because Jon was really starting to step up for us," Van Wieren said.

Snikkers, a junior who played in seven of Hope's eight games, was averaging 2.0 points and 2-0 rebounds while averaging five minutes a game for the Flying Dutchmen.

Snikkers had seen his playing time reduced lately with the improved play of Andy Venema and Chris Nelis as backups to starting center Zach Osburn."

Anyone else find it interesting/confusing that a player who "was really stepping up" was seeing his pt reduced? ???
If this coaching thing doesn't work out for GVW perhaps he can run for some office. ;)

It is fine to report on players that are academically ineligible to keep the public informed on the team's lineup, but I feel it is in bad taste to provide a HUGE picture of Snikkers.

I don't think its a newsflash to anyone that Ty Tanis has been struggling 15-46 .326 FG shooting, 4-21 .190 from trey.  Obviously he's going to back up Bunn today with Bosch out, and I'd venture a guess in the 3 gaurd sets its Tanis on the floor with whoever else is playing the 1 and 2.

Tanis is one of 5 Hope players who play significant minutes shooting below .300 from behind the arc.  That deserves a whoah!

Maybe Ty will be the guy that people "forget about", who comes off the bench and lights it up late in the season, when we need it most...

As my esteemed friend hope1 pointed out Aquinas' gym has been a tough place for Hope over the years.

96  Aquinas 97 Hope 58
97  Aquinas 79 Hope 70
99  Aquinas 76 Hope 72
00  Aquinas 90 Hope 82
01  Aquinas 71 Hope 60
03  Aquinas 76 Hope 69
05  Aquinas 75 Hope 60
07  Hope 65 Aquinas 62

I hadn't even realized this myself, that deserves a  :o.  I don't know the name of AQ's gym and haven't been there in several years but it wouldn't shock me if it was The Gym of Death with a skull and crossbones over the door, and a motto underneath 'Abandon all hope ye who enter, especially you Hope.'

At least now I know the answer to something thats been kind of nagging at me while I'm exiled to listening to Hope on the radio.  WHTC runs a clip of Derek VanSolkema's last second nearly halfcourt 3 that beat AQ in 2007......um constantly.  This clip has bothered me for two reasons, 1) Its Derek VanSolkema and he doesn't play for Hope anymore, 2) surely there must be something from 2008 they could use.......like say something about going to the final four.

I now realize its a rare piece of Hope history, not only a last second shot win.......Derek's is the only one I can recall in the past 4 or 5 years, but also its a rare Hope win AT Aquinas.   So play on, it all makes sense now.
