Guidelines for watching MIAA basketball games...........

Although only a tangent to Sac's post, here is my own all-time personal bad behavior incident....

About five years ago in the MIAA tournament finals hosted at Calvin, Calvin led the entire game except for the final 9 seconds or something when Hope took the lead and game. I've tried to put the details of this game out of my mind, but.... At the game, the Hope fans brought these inflatable orange 'sticks.' My 5 year-old daughter found one of these Hope sticks in our back yard the morning after the game (at the time, our yard bordered Calvin College near the Fieldhouse). She came running into the house shouting "Go Hope! Go Hope!"

With out even thinking, I grabbed the Hope stick out of her hand, literally ripped it in half (no easy feat for me), and screamed, yelled, and probably threw things around the house (I don't remember throwing anything), but I do remember the tears and emotional scars that I caused my young daughter. These actions were certainly worse than the mispronouncing of names and many of the other things on Sac's list.

That was an all-time low on several levels for me.

I'm betting that two of those all-time-low levels were your wife's opinion of your parental fitness and your ability to avoid sleeping on the couch. ;)

III  All fans must point out spelling and grammar errors, otherwise society breaks down and it become chaos, and no one wants that.

IV  This was written tounge in cheek and my tounge hurts from biting it.  :P

Under duress of having my status as a good citizen taken away, I am compelled to point out that you spelled "tongue" incorrectly. ;) :D

you passed the test, congratulations.  ;)

***my greatest weakness is I don't use spellcheck..... its annoying.  There's no adventure in using spellcheck, its like jumping out of an airplane with 10 parachutes just to be safe.  Not real daring if you ask me.

Get over it, I misspell (or mispell) words incorrectly all them time, I am aware of this.  My grammar (grammer) ain't the best either, I threw out my holt handbook in 1993.

Sometimes its pure stupidity, loss of brain cells, deep rooted fatigue, or just typing faster than the brain can think, other times I don't care and the mispelling (misspelling) makes the point.  I don't get paid to write and I don't get paid to correct errors either...........or point them out.   On the list of annoying pet peeves, pointing out others grammar and spelling errors is moving fast up the list..........its getting up next to sitting someone next to a drafty window in a restaurant on the coldest day of the year, while 100 tables in the cozy middle of the restaurant near the fireplace are open.    That, is a real complaint.

This day is getting wierd, I'll finish by saying this was not directed at you Greg, I thought this post of yours was funny and yes my reaction to your post was "damit the irony".  It wasn't a test, it was epic failure.

------------------------------------------------

Roughrider -- it was a great rant, I'm all for rants, they release tension and provide ample fodder for future annoying posts, ordinarily I would have let your rant go, but the fact was you were wrong and that made up about 90% of your complaint.  FWIW for about 2 minutes of the broadcast I was annoyed to, then I looked up Barczak on the Davenport website..............at which point I threw my complaints in the Krom bin.

Calvin with a comfortable 10pt lead with 7 min left but don't understand why all the points are coming from the guards.  Playing the smallest team they will face all year and not pounding it inside.  Mantel has 2 pts and has been dinking around with a couple of 3pt attempts.  Dustin having another good night.

Wiz:  I've often heard one must be careful what they ask for.  As an "armchair" coach when you ask for change it often happens, but not always in the way one would anticipate.  The thing I am hearing, without anyone saying it is the Calvin players are having fun tonight.  KVS seems to forget that the players have to like what they are doing to do well. :)

Calvin 50- 26 at the half.  FWIW Calvin's players had fun last night as well.
Hard to believe Rockford beat a Defiance team that garnered 8 pts. this week in the top 25 poll.
It sounds like Calvin is enjoying the hothand tonight.

Up by 24 and another good night for Dustin.  Last night he led all scorers with 18pts.  This night, the Hope transfer already has 14 at the halfway mark.

Out with KVS.
In with Adam Sandler.
That's what I'm talkin' about. ;)

Sounds like Dustin may be on his way to the Purple & Gold Financial Tournament MVP award tonight. If so, I sure hope there's no job offer associated with such an award; otherwise Dustin might be a mid-season transfer. :D That would sure set sac off.

I would imagine it is most always fun with one is winning.

gk:  Since you mentioned it.   :(  (That is sadly)   Last year, and several times this year KVS in his post game comments has not exactly been the most encouraging or supportive, or even kind coach I have ever heard.  If it is his mistake, he should have the ----s to own up to it, not push it off on his players.!!!!!  Bad playing is bad playing, and bad coaching is bad coaching.  Especially when everyone knows what you are going to do. >:(

Does anyone know how many more games  KVS teams need to win to make him the winningest coach in Calvin history?  I remember reading it recently but don't recall the exact number.  I think it was in 1999-2000 that he was named D3 coach of the year.

Yes, but one should note that the fun started before the games were won!!! :D

Thanks for the negative k Wiz.  Just remember 16-11 last year.  If you read all my posts, I have never said that KVS should go.  What I have said is KVS needs to "refresh" his thinking from time to time.  If you haven't been able to determine what KVS was going to do in advance for far too long now you have been listening to different games than I have.

I believe KVS was down 8 at the start of the season. Assuming Calvin wins tonight he would need 3 more to catch fast Eddie.
