KVS, in his postgame interview, said some really positive and encouraging things about Veltema, Veldhouse, Smith & Katt.  But, I was able to determine he was going to say that way in advance of the interview.  Don't know why I even bothered to listen.

If you look carefully you'll see Veltema is quietly having a great season--and a consistent one. The last two nights he scored 28 on 10-16 from the floor, grabbed 13 boards and dished 8 assists. That's efficiency.

My point exactly.  They finally did what they (the above named players) are (and have always been) capable of doing.  Thanks to a coach who finally figured it out. :D  I also listened, and KVS pointed out it was his idea to have Caleb at the 2, and he also admitted that "didn't work as well as he"...................................................... ;D

Right on, buddy!  Hey, I know some people in high places at Calvin.  Let's see if we can get him fired.  Should we try to get it done before he surpasses Douma's record?

Very efficient!  And, he was named to the all tournament team too.  I've got an idea that could make everyone happy.  Let's make Veltema the player/coach!!!

I think KVS needed 10 wins to pass Ed Douma's win total at Calvin.  I'm unsure since the MIAA website isn't accurate for KVS' wins.

I'll go with Jeff Febus, the stellar SID at Calvin, whose current media guide has Ed Douma with a record of 254-72 at Calvin over 12 seasons.  With tonight's win, KVS is at 250-100 in his 13th season.

Sadly with 28 more losses than Eddie, and 16-11 last year I don't think KVS needs either your help or mine Wiz :(  Those friends of yours in high places are not happy with last years record, and talk on campus is they weren't impressed with student attendance numbers either.  Did you read the inside cover on your latest issue of Spark?

Hope still on pace for 128.

Now on pace for about a 5 point loss, 19-6 run by Judson.  :D

Final

HOPE 112 Judson 95

Hope led by 30 at 12:30 or so to go, Judson got that lead all the way down to 10 at 96-86, then Hope finished strong, makes alot of sense.  The margin was under 15 most of the last 7 minutes.  I'm not sure what Judson shot the second half but it seemed pretty close or better than Hope's first half.

For whatever reason (complacency, Judson, turnovers, sloppy play, poor shooting vs hot shooting Judson,  I don't know???) Hope had a really hard time scoring points from 12 minutes to 4 mins in a game where the points were free flowing.

Reimink had a big second half, which was good because it was necessary, he's got to be named the tournament MVP

Reimink 25, Osburn 18, Bowser 17 , Bunn 16, Krombeen 13, Tanis 11

DeWayne Robinson 30, Landon Skinner 27 for Judson

These two teams broke and set alot of Arena records tonight,  I do know this was the most points since Hope scored 120 in 2005 vs Grace Bible.

Nice win and a nice two nights of hoops for Hope dampened a bit tonight by lots of injuries unfortunatley.  Carter, Bosch, Krombeen all had to leave the court with injuries, Bunn came up limping I guess.  So stay tuned for that.

Hope prevails, all starters in double digits, records falling...  We picked a great day to fly to Savannah.   :-\

No complaints, though, sunny and 70 upon arrival.  Took a tour around the neighborhood at halftime.  Lots of nice light displays, but I have to say, lighted palm trees outnumbering lighted pine trees is somewhat surreal.

Nice game, Dutchmen!  (I Hope you can shake off those injuries.  :( )

(God bless wireless internet!   :D )

Per Coach Dav: stitches under Krombeen's eye after colliding heads with Kevin Warren.  That smarts (let me tell you!), but barring any other effects of the collision, my guess is he should be fine.

Not complacency, or any of the above mentioned possibilities.  The refs let the game get way, way out of hand.  Krombeen left the floor twice with injuries, Carter was not able to return to the floor after his, Warren has a cut on his head, etc., etc.  It was a brawl.  While he clearly was NOT berating the reffing, Hope's President was overheard stating that this was why he had played football -- it was safer.   :P

Injuries and their causes aside, it was good to see Hope play back-to-back games that looked like, well, Hope basketball.  Talked to sac at halftime, and I think he summed it up well -- Hope seems to be making up the ground they lost by the back-to-back weeks off (remember the norovirus, anyone?).

It was, from my perspective, good to see significant improvement from many, including Vennema and Carter (I would beg to differ with HopeConvert about Carter's improvement).  And it never hurts to have shooters back in the "zone."

With the reports that Calvin, too, is finding it's rhythm, it looks like we're heading for a very interesting league season!   ;D
