BTW: Zoerhof is looking for someone to take his slip and fall case against Adrian College. Maybe bulldogalum knows a good lawyer. ;)

Jeeze, against my alma mater?  That's pretty low, even for an attorney! ;)

I'm wondering: will OK and GK show up today wearing maroon and gold face paint? I'm willing to contribute to the cost of the paint.

Given your family history -- not to mention your superior undergraduate education -- you of all people should know that Frisians are lovers, not fighters, so no maroon-and-gold war paint on me. :-*
I'll be adorned in a Calvin sweatshirt and should arrive at the site of today's friendly match in Holland sometime during the JV game, DV.
No need for a serenade or a salute, especially of the Italian variety.

Well, it turns out sac is THE authority on these things.

Glad to know that this board is read by some important people.  Thanks for posting.  Good article...

Well, I'm just about to leave for the trip to Holland to yell my lungs out.  This morning always seems like Christmas to me or any Calvin or Hope fan.  Lets h*pe I am as good as mood in 6 hours.

I'm going into this game pretty undecided about the outcome or what to expect still.  The teams are pretty evenly matched.  Calvin may have a few more "star" players than Hope, but I think Hope is the better shooting team.   Calvin cannot let Hope get off easy shots!

Calvin needs to get the ball in Mantel hands as much as possible.  If Mantel is double teamed down low, he needs to find the open man standing on the perimeter.

If Smith, Veltema, Veldhouse, and Mantel all have solid games, I think the Knights win.  That's a big IF, though.

I am h*ping this is Rodts "coming-out" party and he can contribute a solid 10 or more points.

See you all at the game!

DK.  Thanks for the clarification, I think.   :)  Whatever you call it, and however it is done, IMHO TRISH is TRASH so I will continue to TRASH TRISH. ;D

In the early years of D3 Hoops (circa 99-00) there was a competitor I think from OH somehwere.  If memory serves correctly his name was Robinson, and he had the best rating system I have ever seen it was much better than Massey and way better than NCAA.  This guys system required lots of care and feeding, and I think he discontinued it when he had to get a real job.  I am sure Sac will remember this guy.

Barry Robinson, Columbus Multimedia. The amount of data he would amass was impressive and he used it to generate a very interesting ranking system. But there's even less money in that than there is in D3sports.com and he gave it up after the 2000-01 season, I believe.

I have acquired a copy of his database and someday hope to add previous years' schedule and results to our database. But that is an offseason project, to be sure!

He should have known better than to tell Frisians to change their minds about something.

Pat:  Thanks for the comeback on Mr. Robinson.  He wouldn't explain much about how his system worked, but I recall it loaded in almost every teams box scores for every game.  I believe he also followed up with all opponents records so an NAIA team that did well in NAIA play helped D3 for strenght of schedule.   I recall in 00, and 01 he was right on about the Calvin teams, and the MIAA.  Now that you mention it it does seem like he faded away about 01-02 time frame.
I am sure upadting, and utilizing his formula would be a considerable undertaking.

Look at the beautiful Friesland flag though. I mean my people are lovers.

Alma 64
Adrian 62

From the looks of it on the livestats, Adrian trailed for most of the game, caught up late only to be beaten at the buzzer by a Jordan Redditt jump shot.  Obviously I wasn't at the game, so I can't speak to nature of the game, but from the looks of it, Adrian had poor starts to both halves, and in the end, the holes they dug themselves were too much to climb out of.

Doug Wentworth just mentioned that Tyler's injury on Wednesday night occurred at the restaurant, just before the game, not just outside Merillat. Your alma mater is in the clear. Now, for the name of that restaurant .  .  .  . >:(

it is nice to be able to watch this rivalry from Knoxville on Directv.
I am enjoying the game.

That was a heckuva basketball game. You Calvin/Hope people seem to have a flair for this sort of thing.

Reimink missed a wide open shot from 15 feet with about 3 seconds left and Calvin escapes with a 66-64 win at DeVos. It was almost a missed opportunity by the Knights who led almost the whole game but nearly lost because they couldn't take care of the ball. To me the key moments occurred after Calvin scored the first 6 points of the second half to take a 42-32 lead. Hope was on its heals and after a timeout they were still struggling to score. Unfortunately, on the next several possessions, Calvin helped them out by taking terrible shots early in the shot clock, instead of running their offense and forcing Hope to defend.

Veldhouse led with 19 and Mantel was tremendous, getting a double-double with 17 and 11. Calvin won the battle of the boards 37-30 but committed 16 turnovers to Hope's 5. Reimink led all scorers with 20 but missed a number of open shots and was only 1-7 from the arc. Katt was the unsung hero with 2 huge 3 point plays.
