Veltema was really good today.  He is playing with confidence and has improved his play significantly from last year.

If there ever was a game that John Mantel needed to step up and demonstrate that this is his team and that he can carry it on his back when needed, today's game at Kresge was it. While Calvin got important and nice contributions from Veltema and Zoerhof, as KVS mentioned in the post-game, despite the free throw misses, "John was the Man today." I suspect that the number of minutes John played, particularly against a first team All-MIAA player as good as Yancy, might have taken a little bounce out of the Mantel legs when sizing up his charity toss.

Calvin survives dreadful foul shooting and the absence of starters Caleb Veldhouse and Danny Rodts in a tough. foul-filled test at Kresge.

Redundancy X 2. Also repetitive; possibly superfluous. ;)

No Veldhouse?  Injured?

Pretty sure it's an injury....

Anyone know how serious it is?  I can't imagine it's too serious if he tried coming back against Olivet.

It will nice to have Rodts back on Wednesday...

I resemble those remarks, counselor.
See you Wednesday at the VanNoord.

I have no idea, but when a kid hits 120 shots in a row from beyond the arc, even if it's practice, I would think he's going to get a look or two from some big-name schools.

I heard Bret Bakita tell that story on the radio a few weeks ago.  I have a hard time believing that.  It's hard to make a 120 layups in a row.  I don't think the best NBA 3 point shooter could stand at the H.S. arc and make a 120 in row.  I'm skeptical.

Normally I would be as well. However, subsequent to Bakita telling the story, he had the coach on the air (this was on yesterday's broadcast) and the coach told the whole story and confidently asserted its veracity.

Stats for Calvin - Albion game:

Strange stat of the game - Albion's Dave Elliott had 5 fouls in 3 minutes of PT. ???

HC - I guess I'd have to see the tape to believe it.  Ronald Reagan said "trust but verify"

Did anyone hear the radio announcer announce Desmond Young as "Desmond Howard"?

9+ times now.

Hope enjoys a 4 pt lead at the halfway mark.  They were beat up on the boards but shot 60% of the field goals.  If they shoot 60% again in the second half, they may just hang on for the win.

Looks like rebounding is a key stat at this point...

All tied up at 68 with a little over 3 minutes left.  Adrian hasn't missed a free throw all night.
