Judging by the first regional rankings, it isn't far-fetched to think that the MIAA again gets two teams into the tournament.  With all of the talk about the weak conference and the poor scheduling, it's always fun to see two teams get in.  If both Hope & Calvin win out and meet in the conference tournament finals, I could see the loser squeeking in (especially if Calvin beats Hope next Wednesday and then Hope wins the AQ).

Have to take care of business first though.  Tough game at Kresge tonight for Hope.  The place has given Hope fits and I'm assuming the Kresge Krazies will be ready and waiting for the youngsters.  It will be weird to not see Coach Turner patroling the sidelines and working the officials but I'm expecting the same type of physical, aggresssive play out of the Brits under long-time assistant May.

Except by virtue of the guarenteed 2 losses through the reg. season game and MIAA tournament, one is going to pick up 2 more losses, or both will pick up 1 more loss......guaranteed.  Thats not even taking a loss to someone else into account (like Albion beating Hope)

One loss will hurt Hope and Calvin more because they have fewer in-region games.  Maybe too early to say but I really don't like eithers chances of landing an at large birth if it comes to that.

When I first looked at those GL regional rankings I thought I had slipped into some sort of alternate universe.  Not sure I can recall a time when one of the W's (Wooster, Wittenberg) weren't rated.
While we have been lamenting that this is a down year for the MIAA it seems to be true for much of the GL region.  Other than the AQ's it might be a tough year for GL teams that need pool C to rescue them.

NCAC, PrAC, and AMCC all still get bids too.  That makes 7 bids from the GL region without a second MIAA or third OAC.  How many GL region teams usually make it?

The AMCC only has 3 teams from their conference listed as in the Great Lakes Region, the others are Mid-Atlantic.  So we can  only claim one of them if they win the AMCC AQ.

a fourth, Franciscan, is D3 provisional.

There was a year not long ago when only 4 Great Lakes teams made the tournament.  I would say most years there have been 6 or 7.........and we've been pretty good about getting 1 or 2 Pool C bids in this region.

Because of the way that they schedule, it's pretty much a prerequisite for Calvin and Hope to run the table in the MIAA, or come close to doing so, all the way to the championship game of the conference tournament. This is a scenario that has arisen in several previous seasons. Fortunately for the MIAA's Big Two, their league seems to accommodate this prerequisite.

I am not bashing KVS's and GVW's scheduling decisions, mind you. I'm simply saying that this is the way things are with regard to both Calvin and Hope getting into the tourney.

I just went to the MIAA livestats website, and I swear Hope College has adopted a dog as mascot. :D
I think they made some sort of mistake.  Obviously they did not clear the Adrian Buldog off, but labeled it Hope College.

I see what you guys mean about player names.  Rinekey????

NWH:  Trine did a game early, and Calvin indicated with the new bldng they were going to do it, but not so far.
I think they want us to beg, and probably agree to pay.
Sorry I missed the address.  all I got was albion.edu
