Speaking of DeVos......it has not been kind to the Hornets.  (should note all of these games were the first meeting of the year)

Never mind DeVos......Holland has not been kind to the Hornets.

1-31 since the 1978 season.   That deserves a whoah, and a  :o

Did anyone else notice it looks like they went right back to keeping score, like nothing happened?

I did - and on some level that was pretty disturbing too.  I guess they really don't like each other, but are totally committed to their task.  I would love to know what started it and what was being said...

Deadspin knows everything!...Well, almost everything, (they dont know what was said...)

Why? Did Lake Erie die? ;)

I know that Cleveland tried to kill Lake Erie, but I was under the impression that it was making a comeback.

Sadly Cleveland was not alone in the damage that it did to Lake Erie, in fact if you talk with the folks down in OH you will quickly learn that a big part of the problem was the polluted water flowing in to the lake "from that state up north".  Lake Erie is very clean tday, and sports one of the best Walleye fisheriess around.  Yes, it is safe to swim.

We're all just lucky the Scioto river flows South. ;)

I have nothing further to add. I just want to continue posting this delightfully random picture of Lake Erie.

It always amazes me how ADD this board can be sometimes!  :D ;D

Please, for the pure joy of the goofyness, remember this next time someone want to complain about us not talking about basketball in the OFF SEASON...

Ah, geez....

You know we were all sitting here with our compasses and graphing calculators, trying to figure out in-region mileage before Sager jumps in to chastise us again...   ;D    Under that kind of duress, who could think "comedy bit?"   :D

Yes, Lake Erie is much better today than a decade or two ago.  Your delightful discussion conjurs up memories of the scenes of the Cayahoga River being on fire back then! ::) :o

Here's the link to a more extended explanation of the scorekeeper fight. I don't think Calvin/Hope, even at its worst, ever descended to this level.

I'm with you, Ziggy. I thought he was making some sort of reference to the Great Lakes Region. The fact that "Erie" and "eerie" are near-homonyms never occurred to me.

Not to mention conjuring up memories of the last time I had a Burning River Pale Ale, a tasty treat provided by our friends at the Great Lakes Brewing Co. of Cleveland and named for that selfsame immolation of the Cuyahoga River back in 1969.

GS:

That is great - that brew sounds like it had a "real hot taste".  Too bad I knew had the opportunity to try it.  Also, Oops!  I mis-spelled Cuyahoga! :-[ ::), although back in my day at Hope, nobody ever accused me of being a 4-point in remedial English grammar and we didn't have "Spell Check" then.  On the other hand, no excuse today! ;D ::) :P :)

Since this is the basketball board and even though some of you have touched on this of recent, I throw this out anyway.  Some had discussed the "appearance" of scheduling by Calvin and Hope so that they position themselves for the title each year.  It just seems to me that they have had the better recruiting for many years for whatever reasons those may be known (and/or believed) by most of you.  Of course, I'm sure much of that has to do with the schools and the success they've had in this sport the last 2 1/2 decades.  Alma for some reason has just had very tough going in bb recruiting; other schools such as Kazoo, Albion, occasionally Albion and this year Olivet have had some better runs in recent years i.e. the parity seems to be getting better (as it certainly has in football), however, they just have not quite made it to that "next level" as yet.  Anyway, having said all that, given this year's records so far (some what less than in recent years), does anyone really think that the MIAA will get two teams in the NCAA Regionals this year?  I personally think it will only be the AQ from our  MIAA tourney; unless Hope or one of the other teams puts on a real blitz these last few games as well as in the tournament.  I think the latter is highly unlikely, however, yet we've all seen strange things happen before.   Thoughts anyone?

Holy cow!  Can't even type tonight and all I had to drink with dinner was cold water :).  Second sentence in my above post should have read that "...I never had the opportunity...."
