What will be the procedure for getting ticket's for tomorrow nights game?  Will people be able to pick any up at DeVos tomorrow or will all be sold only at Calvin?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The announcement made near the end of the game made no mention of tickets being available at DeVos, but I think the announcement was made for the Calvin fans.  Calvin box office at the FAC is open tomorrow during the day, sumthin' like 9-11 am and some afternoon hours too.

My guess, however, is that most Calvin fans aren't thrilled about having to face the Dutchmen again.

Coach told me he thought Calvin would win Saturday because he believes the Knights are just a little more mature and physically stronger at most positions.

I think that's true. In my mind, it's really going to come down to how Hope's bench plays. I think all Hope fans have been thrilled to see the return of Ty Tanis the last couple of games. He's shooting with confidence again, and playing better defense as well. With Cox, Tanis, Venema, and Jungling all stepping up the way they have, I think Hope might have more depth than Calvin. (I'm not completely sold on Nelis yet.) And even though both teams should be relatively well rested, it's still games two days in a row.

I thought Olivet played pretty well the first half.  They came out with good intensity but then Calvin started making everything.  It was enjoyable to watch.
Calvin fans haven't witnessed shooting like that in a long time.  I also thought Calvin did a good job defensively.  Hope has outscored them in the paint in both games.  Calvin must stop their backdoor cuts for layups.

Olivet has a decent team.  They lose one senior.  If they all stay together they will be good next year.

Not only that, we can count on Gene Gifford getting a JC kid or two every year, this year he got Andre Evans.  I'm to the point where I expect Olivet to be among the top 4 for the foreseeable future.  Brandon McClary's a big loss though, tough to fill his points.

To win the MIAA, their defense must improve.  46.7% FG defense won't get it done in this league.

I do not believe the MIAA Tournament Championship has ever sold out at Calvin, even for a Hope/Calvin game.  Tickets should be available in the spacious VanNoord........and we get 50% of them. :)

How about trying your smack talk again?  I'm not sure if I need to smite you since I can't really understand your point.

You see, its very simple math.  1 concession stand upstairs + 1 concession stand downstairs = 1 concession stand.    Duh.

Actually, Calvin has 2 concession stands and I've found their arrangements to be one of the nicest features at VanNoord. There's one for the lower bowl and one for upper level seating, and their are tables and chairs in the spacious common areas to eat your food if you so desire. Their is also a nice fireside room to the side of the lower level--with a computer to post on D3 hoops. Pat should be proud.

A few days ago the tv timeouts were distractions.  Today they are luxuries.

Haha, from the article about the Calvin/Olivet game:  "Calvin coach Kevin Vande Streek said he at first was grumpy when he entered the lockerroom at halftime and noticed that his team had only grabbed one offensive rebound. That quickly changed when he saw the 80.8-percent shooting statistic.  "I saw we only had one offensive rebound, but then I looked and saw that there were only (five) missed shots," Vande Streek said. "When you play anybody that shoots that well, it's going to be tough."

That is some crazy shooting, it didn't seem like they really hit their stride right away though, Olivet was leading for the first few minutes of the game.  They did pick it up though, with 51 points by half time.

I think the biggest thing I noticed in that game was how well both teams played.  Olivet may not have been very close in the score for the rest of the game but I don't think it was because they were playing badly.  Both teams has some beautiful plays and passes and open shots, it was a very fun game to watch in that respect.

Tonight's game should be another fantastic game if both Hope and Calvin play like they did last night.  It'd be awesome to see a down to the wire game of 85-90 points a side.  Good luck to all!

hope1, there's no excuse for the bad pizza but there are 2 concession stands at VanNoord  :P

From the second article:

Veldhouse and the other seniors understand that with Calvin and Hope each having seven losses, the automatic qualifier is likely the only way either team will play any more this season.

The 7 losses do not matter.

Calvin's 2 losses in-region matter, as do Hope's 4(?) lossess in-region, as well as the OWP and the OOWP.  Lee--I hope you read this--it does not take much space in the article to emphasize in-region ranking/losses, so please report it accurately.

From the D3Hoops.com splash page:

"In what seems like an anachronism considering how the rest of the day went, top seeds John Carroll and Capital advanced to the OAC final, as did No. 1 Calvin and No. 2 Hope in the MIAA and Rhode Island College and Mass-Dartmouth in the Litlte East."

I don't know. It seems to me to be happening at just the right time.
