I'll say it again.... It was I that predicted well before the season that JR would/could be MVP, and was soundly ripped for it.  I'm sure someone has the capability to go back to those posts.

Everyone has that capability......not everyone has that desire.

You made a brief mention in this post on October 24th

I may be in the minority, but I don't think the youth of Hope will be much of a factor. Obviously, the early games (wheaton/AQ) may not be pretty at times, but Wheaton will be a top 10 team this year and possibly make it to VA. And truth be told, the MIAA top to bottom, is not the most challenging schedule and will allow them to grow throughout the conference season.

Hope has arguably the most valuable player in Reimink (not the best numbers nor carrier of a team=veldhouse).  Their backcourt will be outstanding (trust me), they will have decent size the the paint (it is helpful but not necessary), and long, athletic wings.

The inexperienced youth is very talented, period.  There were many times last year in practice, where they sounded outplayed the starters in scrimmage situations.

Rankings at this point in the season are meaningless and pointless.  Simply to get the chatter started, which thankfully it did.

what followed was a few responses, none of which I'd call ripping you for what you posted.  Your post is about 1/2 way down, there are only 4 maybe five responses that mention Reimink or the MVP that follow on the remainder of the page and the next one.

.....and at least in my case, those responses came before any of us had seen the condition that Jesse worked himself into over the summer.

I think Hope will have their hands full, but if they are able to execute their defensive scheme (their defense was outstanding for 5 of the 6 halves they played last week), if Jesse can stay out of foul trouble, if they can get others involved offensively, and win the rebounding #s- anything can happen.

Absolutely, anything can happen. :)

There was also the time, years ago, when the Calvin fans, at Knollcrest, held up dozens and dozens of empty pizza boxes when the Hope players were introduced, a slam at former football player Rick Blesch who, earlier that summer, had allegedly (not sure how the trial turned out) beat up a pizza delivery driver 'cause Rick didn't have any money to pay for the pie.
I understand Mr. Ray Smith was very, very irate with that little display.

Was Ray irate with the pizza boxes or with Blesch?

MK:

Now really, what do you think is the true answer to that question? ??? ::)

I think he was mad at the Calvin students for eating all the pizza

Well, I think MK poses a good question.  Smith must have been perturbed that Blesch created such a predicament by ordering a pizza when he didn't have any money to pay for it.  And then on top of that he had to look across the way and see that all those well mannered Calvin students just responsibly ordered their pizzas and politely paid the delivery man without beating the snot out of him.

Babbitt points out that Wheaton's shooting 52 % but Platteville is not far behind at 50% (.498)

I found it hard to believe this is UW Platteville's first trip to the NCAA's since 1998 like the "capsule" states.  Probably because UWP won the 1999 National Championship.

During the 90's they were a fixture in March, they made the tournament every year from 91-99 and bost an unbelievable 30-5 tournament record with 4 National Championships.  1991, 1995, 1998, 1999

Plenty of tickets available for the men's game at Wheaton.  If you want one you can get one.

Sounds like many are planning to stay home and support the women.

Awww, c'mon now.  Cut them some slack.  At least they bother to print something about local d3 basketball.  Sheesh, the GR Press (at least the copy I picked up on Sunday) didn't even mention the men's game from Saturday.  There was an extremely old article about Jesse's accomplishments, but that was it.

I for one, say thanks, Holland Sentinel.  And I mean it.

It looks like WETN will video stream the Wheaton-Fontbonne game but not the Hope- Platteville game.

The lakeshore area gets an earlier edition of the GR Press.  There was a large article in the later edition.

That's when Bo Ryan left to go to UW-Milwaukee ... who says a coach doesn't make an impact?
