Now the Swine flu?  ??? ???

http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/local/ottawa_county/Swine_flu_probable_in_10_Hope_students

Did you notice the comments following the story?  One poster thinks Holland is doomed once the migrant workers show up; another reports his whole family is sick after going to Taco Bell (that one I can identify with! ;)).  I suspect that panic and racism may be a greater problem than swine flu.

But if the story is correct, a rough 'bookend' for Hope's academic year.

Add  Corey Williams  6-2  G, Traverse City St. Francis to Hope College per Stephen Bell.  Class C Honorable Mention, Stephen Bell had him #21 among Wings in the pre-season.

I saw Corey play at Breslin Center in December.......he has excellent range.  I thought he was probably the 2nd best player on the floor next to his teamate and Lehigh bound Holden Greiner.

95% certain that another northerner, 6' 3" Tyler Ingalls, forward from Class D Ellsworth state quarterfinalist and also on Bell's 5th or 6th team, will be also be wearing the blue and orange next year per a conversation with his Uncle I had two days ago. The visit two weeks ago turned him from probable Alma bound to Holland.

It's interesting how Steve Bell seems to have changed his tune a bit about Snuggerud since Nate was an 11th grader. After this season's state finals, Bell gave Snuggerud justifiable praise concerning his play and college prospects, but in April, 2008 (after Nate's junior year) Bell commented:

Nate Snuggerud 6-5 Jr West Michigan Lakers (Zeeland East)
Not particularly skilled, but he produces because he plays hard at a solid 6-5, whether running the lanes or fighting in the paint.

At the same time Bell gave the following summation about Tom Snikkers:

Tom Snikkers 6-3 Jr Grand Rapids Storm (Hudsonville Unity Christian)
The Storm have a number of good role players, Snikkers chief among them. He can produce all over the court. He rebounds, guards, pushes the ball. He can get into the lane to score and pass. His body says MIAA, and he could be a terrific player at that level.

If nothing else, KVS has gotten a good start on a football team at Knollcrest. :o Both Snikkers (QB and DB) and DeYoung (a two-way lineman) were outstanding on the gridiron. I've never seen Mantel play but I think CalvinChelseaMom would affirm that Jake really knows his way around the tight end position.

I attended Albion College's salute to Mike Turner last night at Kresge Gymnasium.  It was a great turnout, with former players and coaches including Milt Barnes, Mike Williams, Stan Heath, Ken George,  Matt Essell, Pete Aerts,  and Mike Thomas. With nearly 15 speakers during the event, and some very classic stories (sounds as if Coach Tuner isn't the best driver in the world), it's obvious the profound affect he's had on many many people over his 30+ years at Albion.

Now the Swine flu?  ??? ???

http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/local/ottawa_county/Swine_flu_probable_in_10_Hope_students

Can someone please teach Hope students how to wash their hands? First Noro, now H1N1?

Actually I think it's the Hornets who are causing it.

In November, the Noro outbreak began immediately following a Hope v Kazoo volleyball game on November 1 at Hope.  The lady Hornets left, but apparently left something behind

Now H1N1 comes just as the Kazoo baseball team has been on Hope's campus, the men's tennis team was at Hope for the league tournament, and the Kazoo ladies hosted the tennis tournament at Stowe.  Another gift from the Hornets?

Coincidence or conspiracy - you be the judge       ;) :D ;D

Kalamazoo did not drop its softball program ... It was simply not fielding a team this year because there was a lack of participation, and plan to field a team next spring.
