It is unfortunate timing with students being gone, Christmas shopping, and football state finals, but i think they could do a better job promoting beyond the standard small article in the press the day before.  There are more than enough WM (and beyond) players and teams and families that could take in the event.  It is generally great hoops at its purist at an affordable price.

As a Hope fan, part of me wouldn't mind Calvin declining because it would give other area schools an opportunity to hoist the championship trophy, oh wait.....

Let davenport take their place.  Based on the athletes they now have on their roster, the Panthers could makes things rather interesting.

Before someone comes back with a national championship count, I was kidding about the prior comment.  FWIW they will win the MIAA and receive the bid IMO but we shall see.

News from CMU--

"...Zeigler also announced Lonnie Griffin will be brought in as the team's video coordinator, a newly created role in the program.  Griffin comes to CMU from Alma College, where he spent five seasons with the men's basketball program. He graduated from Eastern Michigan in 2001 with a degree in communications before joining the coaching staff as an assistant for two seasons. After working with the Scots, Griffin worked a season as an assistant at both Northwood and Grand Valley, before returning to Alma for three seasons.

While working toward his degree, Griffin also spent three seasons as a student assistant with the Eagles.

"We're really fortunate to add this position to our staff, and even more fortunate to add Lonnie in this role," Zeigler said. "He brings a wealth of experience from the Division III level, and he definitely brings a lot of organizational skills that will help our staff elevate the level of this program."

Former hoopster Kyle Snoeyink has also been added to the CMU basketball staff. He is the Graduate Manager for the mens hoops team. He is finishing up his Masters degree and this will be his internship. Pretty sweet gig I'd say. Maybe some CMU bench players will start making their way to  Calvin  ;) Congrats to Kyle.

I'd say it's high time this board had another "discussion" concerning transfers.

You have to be careful about how much you divulge about how hard you're working to make you and your team better in the summer..............there are people watching around those parts, although I doubt there will be a "thorough"(<cough, cough>) expose written about it. ::)

Was participation in this summer league voluntary?   ;)

Do the hours of time spent in summer league exceed the recomended allowable daily dose of work for a DIII athlete?   :D

Where is Jimmy Hoffa actually buried?   ;D

I look forward to reading about where Mr. White got his mortgage.

Olivet's schedule is now complete with start times for all games (except the one where it's based on the previous night's game).

http://www.olivetcollege.edu/athletics/mbasketball/schedule.php

Notice the start times for the games against John Carroll on Nov. 15 and Finlandia on Dec. 19 ... They are 1 p.m. because the Olivet women have games each day after the men ... They decided to go with the men first because the men's opponents have a longer trip home.

Department of Trivia - Attendance Division:

Hope averages more fans than attended today's MLB game of the Reds at the Pirates!  While paid attendance was nearly 16,000, turnstile attendance was under 3,000 (they even closed the upper deck for the first time since the park opened in 2001).
