Hope travels to Trinity Christian.......last year the Trolls gave Hope a tough game in Holland with the Dutchmen pulling it out by 5.  TC had 4 significant Seniors graduate so this doesn't appear to be as strong a squad as last year.  Trinity comes in 3-4, but 3 of those losses have come vs teams a division or two above them.  This is Hope's first trip to Trinity since 2006, the Trolls usualy go all-out vs their two cousins from  West Michigan.

Trinity also lost a very good coach, Tim Walker, who now leads the program at Malone.

Great.  Hope and Calvin go from the NAIA frying pan to the NCAA 3 fire. :D

I'm pretty sure Danny Rodts has scored more than 22 points this year, Hope has played more than two games, Calvin has played more than 3 games, etc.

OK ... I looked a little closer ... The first part of the stats show four-game stats for Calvin (and three-game stats for Hope) ... But the individual stats are missing the Hope-Calvin stats ... Not sure why it's happening. I will see if the problem is fixed when Greg uploads new stat files after tonight's game ... If it's still wrong, I will contact him tomorrow.

Sienna Heights 48 Adrian 45...... a real defensive slugfest, Adrian had a couple chances to tie in the last 30 seconds, and missed a 3 at the buzzer

Concordia 59 Alma 56.........unbelievably this is the same score and result as their meeting last week

no Hope update, radio connection isn't working for me

In Palos Altos, Hope 44, Trinity 40 at half.  Will Bowser (3 fouls) and Josh Holwerda (2) sitting most of the first half.  Anyone able to tell me what Will's technical was all about?  (Not listening through most of the first 15 min...bad fan!)  With so many fouls in the first few minutes, I wondered if maybe he expressed his frustration in some way the refs found objectionable.   :-[

Nelis close to his season-high of 18, with 15 in just the first half!

The announcers keep saying his career high was 12 before tonight...boneheads!  How quickly some forget.

NOW Nelis has his best...19.  Hope wins 97-80.

Trinity calls a tomeout with :40 to go after their last bucket...to set up that 16-pt play.   ::)  Then sends Jungling to the line where he makes both.  Back to the drawing board.   :-\

Hope 97 Trinity Christian 80

Mysliwiec 21 Bunn 21 Nelis 19, Jungling 10

Will Bruinsma 27 for TC

After Hope pulled away early in the 2nd half, the Trolls got it down to 12 a couple times, but the lead wavered between 12 and 18 the rest of the way.   Almost a 2-1 difference in FT's attempted in TC's favor kept this one closer it seems.  Countered by Hope's 12-17 from three.   TC led this game by 7 midway through the first half.

Quit a game from Fr. Jared Mysliwiec  21 pts, 8 rbs on 8-10 shooting, 5-7 from three.  He and Peter Bunn each had 21 pts, Peter took twice as many shots to get his 21.  I was impressed with Jared over at the Oakland scrimmage, nice to see him breakout like this early in the year....he has great potential.

Considering how shorthanded Hope was on the interior, this is a nice result.

Perhaps the stat of the game:  bench scoring: Hope 40, TCC 4.  Hope's bench played alot, partly because of early foul trouble,  but still, TCC was 1-3 for bench scoring (2-2 FTs).  Whereas, Hope was 14-19 (4-4 FTs).  Nice to know the bench can contribute big when they are needed.
