Not a lot of separation between the teams, and I really didn't think about how to rank them 1-4.  I just know that Wheaton was not one of the best teams this weekend, and certainly is no top 10 or even 20 team.  If you forced me to rank them, I'd do it like this (just an honest opinion)

Hope/Carthage
Calvin/Wheaton

You are right that they are all very close (only one game couldn't have gone either way). I also think you are right that Carthage and Hope were 1 and 2 and Calvin and Wheaton were 3 and 4.

If we start with the assumption that the 4 teams are "pretty close" talent wise; Hope had one unexpected positive result (a blowout) and so did Carthage (true road win). Calvin had 2 expected results (a close win and a close loss) and Wheaton had one unexpected negative result (a blowout). You could argue that Wheaton was the worst performing team of the weekend.

If you argue that Wheaton's loss was a road game, then at best they had 2 expected results, and you could still argue that they performed the worst of the weekend.

I think I actually agree that Wheaton had the worst performance for the weekend.  Even if you "expect" them to lose the road game to Hope, the severity of the loss must be considered.  I hereby change the opinion I shared in my previous post (although I won't edit it) - Wheaton was the 4th best team at the CCIW/MIAA Challenge

New poll is out - Hope falls from ORV 26 to ORV 27.  Carthage falls from 17 to 24.  Wheaton falls from 6 to 8.

Completely ridiculous.  Wheaton (IMHO) was the 3rd best team I saw last weekend.

I am curious to know who you think was the best/worst.

I would presume, with all the typical biased logic on this site, that Calvin fans believe Wheaton was the best, Wheaton fans believe Hope was the best, Hope fans believe Carthage was the best (actually Hope fans believe Hope was the best), and Carthage fan believe Calvin was the best.

I believe that Heinz is the best.

The Bible Tigers of Grace (student enrollment, 190) dismantled Cornerstone last night 82-68 at Mol Arena. Calvin's opening game loss--by almost the identical score--is looking less and less disappointing.

Bible Tigers -- I like that!

If the gender mix is typical at Grace, they've probably got 80-90 men on campus. That means that as much as 20% of the male student body may be on the basketball team.

They've also got women's basketball and vollyeball and men's soccer, and they're starting up women's soccer, men and women's tennis, and men and women's cross countrty.

It sounds as though they're pulling an Adrian.

Oh, I liked the comment on the Women's volleball page: "Hello world! Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!"

Good pub for the GBC program.
I thought about Grace the other night when Michigan State struggled to beat The Citadel down in the Carolinas, recalling that Grace took The Citadel pretty much to the wire last year in that same gymnasium.

Yikes, Kazoo must be really bad. I saw Oberlin get beat by North Central by 32. North Central was picked to finish 7th in the CCIW.

MIAA fans----

Not being that familiar with your conference, I have a question about the conference, and would appreciate any and all opinions. The question has specifically to do with officiating in the conference. Here it is:

Do MIAA refs generally allow a liberal amount of hand checking during the course of a game? Thanks to all.

For a city of less than 200,000 people, Grand Rapids has a pretty impressive resume for small-college men's basketball.

I'm still considering whether or not to attend that one.

The ugly weather here in Chicagoland kept me from traveling to River Forest tonight, so thanks, sac, for that video link for Trine @ Dominican.

Appears the livestats are frozen (like the weather in Michigan and Chicago  ;) )... Video shows Dominican leading 36-28 at halftime.
