Calvin down 25 at the half 46 to 21

Pretty ugly.  We'll see if Calvin shows some desire in the second half.

he does have different "rules" for different players, the players will be the first to acknowledge this.  Unfortunately he doesn't always pick the right tactic, no coach can.  But, some coaches have the ability to adapt or change and this is something he may not be able to do, hence the predictability of a lot of what they do.

Honestly, I think that is a critique of coaches in general.  That can be said about every coach.  At every level.  I'm not sure what to think about your position concerning GVW.

You guys sound like Calvin fans.  Lose a few games and start ragging on the coach.  It's pretty difficult to have a championship team every year.  When the players change every year and the coach remains the same, it makes you wonder if maybe talent might have something to do with any of it.

I may add that some kids need to have "thicker skin" or simply not care.  One kid may take it personally (ty) and another could care less or simply not pay any attention.  A great example would be Danny Klunder.  Danny would pull up for a 23 footer, in transition.  If he missed badly, he'd get pulled.  But the very next opportunity, he would do the same thing.  Kevin Brittnell was another.  As far as shooters through history Hope go, he should not be at the top all-time at hope, some would say he was merely average a lot of the time. But he kept shooting, and shooting, and shooting.... it's what he did best, in his mind.  Derek Van Solkema was another.  He gave 2 s*&t's what his coach thought.

My position is that there are lots of reasons why hope is performing poorly at the moment ( some can be controlled, some cannot), and I was simply replying to an earlier post and his/her reflections regarding the teams performance.

Calvin making a bit of a run to start the 2nd half.  Loras seems to be adjusting, and doubt they can dig out of the hole.

come on Wiz, I'm just trying to rile some people up on here! They talk about how great things are but either sit on their hands at the games unless Hope's up by 20, or complain like my ex wife. I threw that comment about the intramural player yesterday to get a buzz going and you were the only one who responded, quite humorously by the way.  Thank you...

Albion 95 Finlandia 93.......interesting score.  This game was played in tiny Gwinn, Michigan just south of Marquette, about 2 1/2 hours from the Finlandia campus in Hancock.

Cruse 23, Harville 18, Bridges 17.......career highs for Cruse and Harville

Calvin isn't going to get it done.  Oh well, 2 out of 3 is better than I feared it might be. :)

Couple halftime scores

Adrian 60 OSU-Lima 24......thats actually early in the 2nd half.  The Barons are on their way to a 1-18 record.  Two things hard to believe, they won their first game by 40+ and have played 19 games in less than 2 months.

Washington U 41 Kzoo 23........this was on its way to being really ugly, but Kzoo played pretty much even the final 8 minutes.

sac

Adrian 103 OSU-Lima 58

Jevon Mosley 24, Wesley Reed 13, Dennis Mason 11

WashU 70 Kzoo 44

Prepolic 11, Clark 10

Halftime in Holland

Hope  33 Davenport 30

Davenport had a 17-2 run to erase an 8 point deficit, then Hope finished the half on their own 10-0 run.

Hope's being led in scoring by two Fr.....Jared Mysliwiec 10, Nate Snuggerud 9....the other 8 Dutchmen who have played have combined for 4-18 from the floor, or 22%

Grace Bible beat Madonna by more than 20 in the first game.

Hope is really spanking Davenport now.  Up by 12 with 5:43 left.  Difference from a purely statistical standpoint seems to be Hope's free throws, both number of attempts and percentage made.

Final from Holland

Hope 77 Davenport 62

Hope played a very good 2nd half to pull away from the Panthers.  Peter Bunn, Chris Nelis and Will Bowser led the way in scoring in the half, in fact I think the starting 5 accounted for all but 3 or 4 2nd half points.  Hope shot around 50% the 2nd half.

Bunn 16, Bowser 13, Nelis 11, Mysliwiec 10, Snuggerud 9

It should be noted Davenport was playing without 6-6 Nathan Cox one of their leading scorers, if not their leader.

I look forward to the post-game criticisms  ;)
