Calvin's women are hosting Olivet that afternoon at 3pm, probably the reason for the switch.

As funny as it was I never considered what Joe did as flopping   He initated all the action, and a good flop (imho) at least requires an opposing player in the same zip code.  :D

You're using a very narrow definition of the word...one that in fact will not show up in most, if not all, dictionary searches.  For example, I started my comment with "You're using..."  Does this mean you will now feel compelled to refute my claim that you are an addict?   ;)
If there is one thing I've learned from this board it's this: There's more than one way to split a hair.

Only amateurs require a second person to flop - and we all know that Joe was a real pro.   ;D

As a b-ball purist (and this being a b-ball chat room) I take a flop to mean one player over-reacting or flat out trying for an oscar in response to minimal or no contact.  A b-ball player flops with the intention of drawing attention to their action, and hopefully getting a foul call.
What Joe did was simply an idiot falling down.  Granted it did drew attention, however the only foul would have been a T on the afore mentioned idiot. :)
Why doesn't it surprise me any to learn Hope posters seem to be experts on flopping? ??? ??? ???

Great point, Realist.

Joe Propelec has started the New Year averaging 19pts and 11 rbs over 5 games.  He has been dominating inside.   It will be interesting to see how Mantel/Calvin match up against Joe.  Coach KVS scouted the Chicago game in December, in which Propelec was virtually unstoppable against a much stronger front court.  I think if Joe can continue his stellar play, and  K's guards can manage to knock down a few outside shots and limit turnovers, Wednesday night's game could be a great one.   I'd love to catch Calvin looking a head to Saturday, but I doubt that will happen based on last year's result at the Rolla Dome.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I expect Kalamazoo to make things tough for Calvin.  One thing I like about K is your coach has some experience in the post, and I really think that translates to his knowing, and understanding how/why, and using a big man to good advantage.  :)   KVS was a guard.  Enough said. :) :)
No question Joe P. will make his mark before he leaves the Hornets.  Is he ready for the twin towers?

51 points, 23 rebounds, 6 blocks 22-36 from the floor for 61%........that was a strong case for player of the week which he shared the week before.

Michael McClary won it last week with 45 points, 23 rebounds, 6 blocks and 16-32 for 50% shooting.

.........maybe a miss for player of the week honors this week.

You're probably right, I'm not convinced the honor always goes to the most deserving player. Joe may very well have won it this week had he not shared the player of the week award last week.

Albion's won the last two meetings with Hope at Kresge 56-52 in 2008, 70-68 last season.  In fact the Brits have won 3 of the last 4 home games vs the Dutchmen.

I'm no expert but this seems like a bad matchup for Hope.

So far in conference play

Tonight is a must win for Hope if they want to entertain any thoughts of competing for the MIAA regular season championship as opposed to just playing the spoiler.  While both games against Calvin & Albion will have been away games and they'll get them back at home, I don't foresee them overcoming a 3-game deficit if they are defeated tonight.

Meanwhile, if Hope does beat Albion tonight and then Calvin does Saturday that sets up Calvin to have a commanding 2-game lead over their nearest competitor.  That would prove difficult for anyone to overtake.  But just remember all the regular season is doing is getting home court for the MIAA tourny, I think to get to the NCAA's any MIAA team is going to have to win the tourney as opposed to hoping for an at-large bid.

GO CALVIN!

If Calvin wins tonight and Saturday they would have a 2 game lead.  I don't consider that a commanding lead.  Calvin will have to play Hope, Olivet, and Albion away the second time around the league.  If they can win 2 this week they would be in a good postion but with a lot of the season left.

2 games would be sizeable at this point. Sure Calvin would have to play Hope, Albion, and Olivet, but everyone else would have to play each other again too. If they were to gain a two game lead, Calvin could conceivably lose two, or even all three, of those 'tough' games and still have a shot at the league title.
