At Hope:
Chris Nelis went down with a sprained ankle at the 4 min mark of the 1st half and didn't return. Also Adam Dickerson had a broken nose from practice but could have played, but didn't.

....and Jared Mysliwiec did not play with a high ankle sprain from Friday.

Jared was in street clothes and on crutches today, which makes me think that he may be out for awhile.  Kudos to Ty Tanis for stepping in and playing extremely well - best I've seen him play since his freshman year.  Nelis was in a boot for the second half of the game, but I suspect that they will have to fully evaluate his ankle later.  Huge minutes from Neil, and some great shoooting - including the second game in a row that he buried a deep contested 3 as the shot clock was about to expire.  All around a good team effort again from Hope, and a second straight game with great FT shooting as well.

What I heard is that they were worried it was broken, but the x-rays showed it was not broken but severely sprained.  Either way it may be a long while before he is able to play

I had a pretty good source tell me Jared had a severe high ankle sprain and will be out 5-6 weeks, effectively ending his season. Ty played well in his stead: a couple of big three-pointers and a sweet behind the back assist. Logan Neil has been hitting a lot of buzzer-beating three-pointers, including a big one in the first half today. If they're calling Logan 4-4, then they're not counting one of the ones he launched trying to beat the buzzer, which was way off. On his last 3-pointer, when he could spot up and shoot, he displayed very nice form.

Adrian played hard and is a good defensive team, but they struggle shooting the ball.

Losing Jared down the stretch isn't good. Let's hope we don't lose Nelis this week, as we will need him desperately on Saturday.

Watching this game online reminds me of how I always dislike the PA announcer at Calvin. With his extremely biased and opinionated remarks.

"Snikkers with a great tap pass!"

"Schnyders with a tough driving layup!"

Just stick to the script... My opinion at least. I always think this during games I am at Calvin, I just normally forget it after Hope wins or when the refs have a bad game.
Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

Talking about Mantel's FT shooting: he might do better if he didn't stand two feet behind the line.

OK - but the "Bond. Wayne Bond" thing was kind of funny.

Midway through the 2nd half Albion had just 5, 2 point baskets.  They've got almost no interior game vs Calvin........that had to catch up with them eventually, and it appears thats now.

That, and a couple big 3's for Calvin.
And 24 of 26 free throws with 3.5 mins left (and one of the two misses resulted in an Albion rebound foul and two more Calvin free throws).  Amazing.

Jody May just picked up at T  ???

First time in three years I've seen Albion pick up a T

Officiating has been "inconsistent" at best.  ???

Albion had several possessions where they could stem the momentum with a basket and they just can't get anything inside and either forced a tough shot or settled for a three.

This has been a pretty ugly free throw parade this half, as you might expect that doesn't favor Albion who strokes it at a miserable 64%
