I think Mantel and the rest of the front line are going to have to have big games if the Knights are going to prevail. Last time around the Dutch got burned by leaving open too many players at the arc; tomorrow I think they'll extend the defense a bit and see what the front line can do.

Exactly what I am thinking, Dark Knight.

The last Calvin/Hope game, Calvin did though do a pretty nice job still trying to get the ball inside even after they were successful with their outside game in the first half.

I'll say one final little tidbit regarding tomorrow's game.  I can not speak for Calvin's players and coaches and I do not know what their mindsets are, but it seemed the last couple of games Calvin knew as long as they hung around with  Albion and Alma, their height advantage and depth would eventually come through and they'd pull away.

I really hope they aren't thinking like that when they face Hope tomorrow afternoon.  Hope is playing very well the last couple of weeks and has too much talent for Calvin to have a real sloppy first half and expect to win.  Calvin better come out with some energy!

I'd have to agree with sac on this mvp debate.  I don't see a problem with thinking McClary should be the first half MVP so far.  The regular league season is only half done, so I am sure we'll have a clearer picture as the season goes on.

Mr. Ypsi

Been awfully quiet in here this week - aren't either Hope or Calvin playing this weekend? ;D

Keep it down, we're praying.

By rivalry standards, Ma and Pa Snikkers have it easy - cheer for the Hope women and the Calvin men.  Anyone got a list of parents who really had it rough: offspring playing directly against each other?

[I had a mini-version of that with elder son coaching West Middle and younger son playing for East Middle, but as long as younger son played well, I could live with either team winning! ;)]

Less then 12 hours until tipoff!!! Getting ready to tailgate and participate in a loud and rambunctious atmosphere!

Until then let us watch IMO the highlight of the Hope men's season thus far (even if it resulted in an eventual loss), and hope that it somehow happens today at the Devos (except resulting in a Hope win, obviously)!

Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

So far, the MIAA pick-em board is split even on the Calvin vs. Hope outcome: 23 pick-em points assigned to each team.

Thanks for posting that, wild!

Time to lace them up, run a few errands and head over to the DeVos.  Here's to another classic rivalry game - well played, well officiated, injury free, and a Hope win.

Please, please, please no bald or extremely short refs today   ::)

They're already lining up at the DeVos. Feeling nervous, but primed and ready to celebrate a Hope victory. Go Dutchmen!

Calvin is overdue to put a beat down on Hope.  Let it happen today.

I would like to see the "WWKVSD" t-shirts come out of retirement today.  :D
