Mr. Ypsi

I can't speak for the Shirk (only been there once, and it was below capacity that day), but back in the days of Fred Young Fieldhouse, IWU consistently was several hundred above both listed and fire marshal capacity.  The fire marshal sputtered and stewed a few times, but (being a Titan fan) never ended up making a big deal of it.  Since I always got there early, I can't say if he ever turned anyone away, but he never kicked anyone out.)

Pat, I have to marvel at the number of your posts(over 25000). I am curious if you have a "9 to 5" job or do you solely monitor the d3 site joining in discussions and looking for problematic posts? Just doing some quick figuring at an average of 20 seconds a post, it would take about 35 weeks of 40 hour weeks to write and post that many! WOW, that is impressive!  Also, is anyone even close to your number of postings or your high karma rating?

I have a full time, 9-to-5 job. D3sports.com doesn't even come close to paying me a five-figure salary.

Gotta remember that I've been adding to that post total for a long, long time. I actually post a lot less than I used to, for what it's worth.

I don't belive there is an attendance banner in DeVos Fieldhouse...........and everyone inside the doors is counted. 3,665 seemed a bit much to everyone who would have a better idea than the rest of us.

This is the banner I am referring to...I believe it still hangs in the rafters: I don't know how to import the picture so here is the link (about the 3rd picture down): Middle banner: "Inaugural Season  32-0 NCAA DIII Attendance Leaders 2005-2006"

bojack, welcome to the board. It's nice to see that MIAA basketball has attracted an "outsider" as a fan. I hope you continue to post; it would be very interesting to hear MIAA opinions from someone not related to the schools.

You may find that Hope fans don't enjoy discussing the topic of banners.  ;D

The attendance banner didn't surprise me but I was really disappointed they didn't hang one for the best condiments.  ;)

How about "Mascott Most Likely to Give Lifelong Nightmares to Young Children"?

It has been a while since I've last posted, but here are my thoughts from the midpoint (almost) of the conference season.

1) Even though Calvin lost on Saturday, they are still the favorite to win the league.  With a 1-game lead and not playing the 2nd place team again, they should feel good about their chances.
2) What has happened to the Brits?  They started out strong but are fading really quickly.
3) McClary will win Conference MVP if the Comets stay in top half of the league.  If not, I think you'd have to give it to Mantel (provided Calvin wins the league).
4) A lot of the teams would appear to be better next year with the exception of Calvin given the young talent around the league.
5) The Conference tournament will be more competitive this year than years past.  The first round could have a few upsets with some teams in the bottom half of the league playing those at the top extremely tough.
6) Given that the region is down a bit this year, I am thinking the MIAA is going to get two teams into the tournament.

It's important to remember that at-large bids (Pool C) are selected out of a national pool, so the only bids that the Great Lakes are guaranteed are the four automatic qualifier (Pool A) bids from the MIAA, NCAC, OAC, and PrAC.

I think the MIAA could get two in (it would have to be Calvin and Hope at this point), but both would probably have to run the table up until the MIAA championship game to have a shot.

That banner would need to hang in the VNA to be sure

Wednesday's nights action

Kalamazoo at Adrian.............Adrian's other two losses are to Hope and Calvin, in retrospect the loss at Kzoo earlier made no sense.

Hope at Alma............not eating hats here, Hope only beat Alma by 3 away last season, its a tweener game for the Dutchmen.

Calvin at Olivet...........Calvin won the first meeting by 4, a matchup of 3 of the leagues best players.

Trine at Albion.......Brits have lost 4 in a row in the conference, first time since 2002.  The bleeding must stop here.
