uh oh the fairies are out again.

It was me. Following up the dusting spray with the feather duster was weak.

Not as weak as ending every bit of ribbing back and forth with the same old banner reply.    :P

Why does this bother you so much?

The unoriginality, the inability to be creative, the absence of good fun, just to name a few reasons. Its not like Hope people don't know that Calvin has won a national championship. It would just be fun at times to have a good back and forth banter that stimulates good cheers and chants without it ending the same way every time. Right now the Hope section is way more creative and original, while the Calvin section just sits back and rocks the same quote every time. Its just not fun (probably why Calvin students didn't really show up at the Devos).

I can think of at least one way to make it end.

No... we'd have to win two to make it go away, because one would only allow the creative and original comeback of "We have two!"
And then if we did win two, probably "We won ours first".
And with three, "We're spotting you one"... It will never end!  ::) :P ;) ;D

Probably won't though.

I used to love the back and forth between the students, right now its completely lame to non-existent on one side of the rivalry.   Current Calvin students have no idea how good the Calvin section used to be.

My goodness you passed out directions for the game at Van Noord.

They have to be creative, because they don't have a banner chant to fall back on.  ;D

Babbitt sounds a little sleepy.

No kidding, and that was after a Hope win.  I'd hate to hear him if Hope had lost, he'd make Ben Stein sound as excited as Dick Vitale gets.

I was sitting with oldknight at the DeVos last Saturday when the Calvin students dusted off the "Where's your banner" retort -- and we both cringed.  It's hackneyed, and no longer useful.  I wish we'd put it away, and take a few moments to think of something more -- ummm -- banter-worthy.

I know plenty of creative kids at Calvin, but they don't appear to be expending much juice on the rivalry with Hope these days.

GK, perhaps the perfect rejoinder for Hope students to the "Where's your banner?" chant by their Calvin peers would be, "Where's your banter?" ;)

Calvin is undefeated in football.

True.  And I am undefeated in Presidential elections, Olympic decathlons, and Best Actor Oscar voting! ;)

with Calvin heading towards a loss @ Olivet the MIAA race is getting mighty interesting and and tight as well.  Kudos to Hope for overcoming a tough start to the MIAA campaign and putting themselves right in the picture.  Now the Knights are going to start feeling a bit more pressure themselves.

Hopecouple

I am just SNIKKERING about Calvin.... oh man did they just put matt Debor in the game???? GO COVENANT!

No one expected anyone to go through the conference season undefeated but the key for Calvin will be to put a quick halt to the losing streak. We saw how quickly one loss turned in to four for Albion.
