McClary with 37 points, 12 rebounds!   :o

Those are dominant numbers. Before tonight McClary was averaging 20.7 ppg and 11.1 rebounds for the whole season. I didn't figure out his MIAA numbers but I imagine they may be higher.

Who was the last MIAA player to average a 20-10 season?

MIAA #'s for McClary

23.9 pts  11.3 rebounds

The last MIAA player to average a 20 - 10 season?  Brandon Crawford in 2006.  22.1 pts. and 11.3 rebounds

Aljr:  If player of the week is an individual award why would it be important that their team must win?   If playing on a winning team is an essential criteria the award should be powoawt (player of the week on a winning team).   :)  If the award is a reward to a player having a great week fine, but if you place a bunch of b..s... qualifications on who may win it you quickly render the award little more than a beauty contest.  :)

I just pointed out the fact that their teams were 2-0.  I'm not gettin my panties all in knot over what criteria they use.  I don't think it's that important.

On the flip side, if you don't include whether or not the player's team won, you risk turning it into a 'selfish player's stat quest'.

It can cut both ways.

Disappointing outcome from the Merrillat.  Adrian missed 40 shots (22 of 62) and Calvin took 49 shots total.  Many of those misses were long rebounds that got Calvin points in transition or on their secondary break.  This takes them out of contention for 1st but they now need to find their offensive touch to stay home for the first round of the tourney.

Chris Primley 5 fouls in 8 minutes of PT  :o
As usual, Primley looked like he was standing in quick sand by not moving his feet and leaning on the offensive player.  That will get you 5 quickly

Does anyone know if Prepolec got hurt in the Hope - Kazoo game?   He's only played 16 minutes and has just 5 points.  I don't see his name listed at all in the 2nd half play by play.

Andy Venema had another fechnical foul tonight.  2 games in a row.  Could he be the Rasheed Wallace of the MIAA?

Prepolec was on the bench with ice on his back and moving very gingerly the entire second half.  Word is he hasn't been able to practice the last 2 weeks because of back problems.  I assume it tightened up on him during the halftime break.

Venema's T tonight was indeed for complaining to the officials - after he was absolutely mugged.  Saturday's T was for touching the ball after it went through the net.  Hardly qualifies him to be compared to 'Sheed.

Both teams played hard.

I'm curious to know why--with 5 seconds left--Adrian thought it necessary to steal the ball from Tom Snikkers and score a layup at the final buzzer. Was the over/under for the game at 12?

I wasn't at the game so I don't know the full circumstances but in general I have no problem with a team, ahead or behind, playing the full 40 minutes.  I think it respects the opponent to play hard the entire game, and also instills the right mindset in the team, even if in certain situations it has no bearing on the outcome.

It used to be played that way, but end-of-the-game etiquette has changed with advent of the shot clock. In today's game, once the shot clock is off and the outcome is decided, the winning team doesn't try to score and the losing team doesn't foul or play meaningful defense.

It's getting a bit repetitive but I think McClary may have given himself a leg up on the competition for POW honors yet again  ;D.  What is also amazing about his performance(s) is the efficiency.  To get his points he typically doesn't jack up 20-30 shots a game at a low percentage to be an Allen Iverson type "volume" scorer.  His 37 pt. game last night he shot 71%  :o.  Really wish I could see a college game of his because I saw him in high school and he was an excellent player, but I never thought he'd be this good in college.  Even without seeing him play, it doesn't matter how he is putting up these type of stats you can't help but be impressed.  I'm pretty sure his coach will be nominating him again this week, at this point Olivet coach should probably send in a copy of nomination form filled out with McClary's name and just tell them to keep it on file for each week the rest of the season to save him the time and repetitiveness of repeatedly sending it in  ;).

I have been so impressed with MM for years, with his skill and demeanor.  He is one cool customer (sam perkins'ish) and I wouldn't want to be defending him if he really got pissed off.  He has the luxury of being surrounded by players who spread the floor with their shooting ability-edsall, evans, jennings, post and clark??? can all hit midrange to deep jumpers, so you really cannot double him as effectively as one would like.  When MM's feeling it, it doesn't matter.

Most impressively was the fact that after a hard fought defeat against Hope, he responded to my outstanding effort comment with a " thank you very much, I appreciate it".  Classy kid.
