Mr. Ypsi

Some of us have really gotten spoiled (and as an IWU guy, I've also been guilty of this).  The lowest attendance here would be an all-time record high at many (most?) d3 schools. :D

I seem to recall in years past that I was always surprised at how poorly attended the first round conference tourney game was at Hope. It seems to get less of a turnout than even a ho-hum conference game against someone in the bottom half of the leage. Being a conference tournament game, is it not included for season ticket holders so they would have to go out of their way to attend that game on top of their regular season tickets?

Conference tournament tickets are not included in the season ticket holders' package, so they would have to pay (gasp) above and beyond their season ticket package to attend.  Thins out the true fans from the curious bystanders a bit.  Also it's near midterms, so students tend to shy away from this one.  But as Sac has pointed out, this is pretty much the norm.  Sad but true...

Interesting choice of words.  If a season ticket holder isn't a "true fan" by definition I am not sure what your entry point to that lofty perch might be.
Now "curious bystanders" I understand.  Those are the clowns that only attend the Calvin/Hope game, and the MIAA tournament games, and than complain because they can't just take your reserved seat.  Kinda like the guy that only shows up at church on Christmas Eve., and Easter, and has the b.... to take your pew. ;D ;D

Oh come now, Chuck, that isn't even close to being true.

Isn't that the truth!  I plan to sit in my regular pew at the VanNoord tonight and if anyone is sitting there when I arrive, they will be swiftly removed.  And, if they happen to be wearing orange...oh boy, better also be wearing a face mask to protect the nose.  I'm feeling a little punchy.

Tell me where you sit, and I'll be sure to beat you to that spot - wearing lots of orange    :P

Sorry - just feeling a little feisty this morning, probably due to the excitement of what I expect to be 2 extremely competitive and hard fought games tonight, followed by at least one rivalry game tomorrow - and HOPEfully two.

I'm sure there are several season ticket holders that purchase tickets because it somewhat of a social event. I mean, when else do you get to see Betty and Hank outside of church?

It's the same with students. Many attend games for the social aspect, and of course want Calvin to win, but are really more interested in chatting with friends and "making an appearance."

Come on guys, let's leave Betty and Hank out of this. Betty is always quick to offer a Wilhelmina peppermint and Hank tipped me off to leaving my seat with 30 seconds left in the half to get to the front of the ice cream line.

In fact that was proven during the season - 100%.  Scoring enough points to stay within 20 points of Olivet - 50%.    ::)
