Every year you play soft schedules and that's why you struggle so much in the NCAA Tourney.  I honestly think if you played better comp you'd be ready and go a lot farther to be honest.

The MIAA has sent three separate schools (Calvin, Hope, and Albion) to the Elite 8 since '05, including two Final Fours in there (Hope, Calvin).

You all's comments were mostly-
a) At least we beat Albion
b) Woo education (which I didn't get)

Tough to respond to those?  Lol...

Look, you all DON'T PLAY ANYONE OTHER THAN YOURSELVES.  Consider it a shame that instead of traveling to play teams, you both played Carthage and Wheaton of which you split.  Other than those games, you played one another what 4 or 5 times, lol.  Come on, even you have to laugh at that.  Yes you had some d2's but its a bit cowardly to load up with those schools and not be hurt with in region losses you think or playing tough d3 schools.  I know its a tradition, but still, come on you can do better than that can't cha?

With all due respect to your programs, the truth is the truth.  Without one another, your schedules are man, you just don't play anyone.  The MIAA is weak outside of you two, which truly is not much different than the NCAC.  However, look who WOO had and could have potentially played....Macon, Wash U, JCU, St Thomas, Witt, Transy, and NCW.  Every year you play soft schedules and that's why you struggle so much in the NCAA Tourney.  I honestly think if you played better comp you'd be ready and go a lot farther to be honest.

Concluding, my statement remains the same.  You will lose to Maryville.  And, lets say that you don't.  Guess who awaits??  Yeah you guessed it, lol.  Neither of our teams will win it all though, lol.  But hey, gotta keep the NCAC MIAA dislike going right :)

Better to stay quiet and people think you're a fool than open your mouth (or type at your keyboard) and remove all doubt.   :P

2000 - Calvin National Champion
2001 - Calvin loses in second round
2002 - Hope loses in second round
2003 - Hope loses in second round
2004 - Calvin loses in second round
2005 - Calvin 3rd place
2006 - Hope loses in sweet 16, Calvin loses to Hope in second round
2007 - Hope loses in Elite 8
2008 - Hope 3rd place
2009 - Hope loses in first round

I think there are probably a lot of schools and conferences that would take the MIAA's "struggles."   ;)

Pretty good results in the 2000's - even better in the 90's.  Overall, a pretty impressive 20 year stretch.
1990 - Calvin Final Four
1991 - Calvin Final 8
1992 - Calvin National Champion
1993 - Calvin Final 8
1994 - Calvin loses in early round to Wittenburg
1996 - Hope National Runner-up
1998 - Hope National Runner -up

Saying that the MIAA has not represented well in the national tourney is just ignorant.

I honestly think there are several teams out there willing to play Calvin, where travel wouldn't be that bad.  They could do a home & home with Elmhurst (Mark Scherer isn't afraid to play good teams) or Chicago (look at who Mike McGrath plays every year - great non-conference schedules).  I think those are in-region candidates?  (Although I know Wheaton is like 202 miles, so I am not positive.)  I'm sure there are several others, but just a couple ideas.

I know that North Park head coach Paul Brenegan is a lot more open to playing Hope and Calvin than his predecessor was. (His predecessor and his women's basketball coaching colleague turned down the opportunity to have NPU be a part of the CCIW/MIAA Challenge, which is why Carthage became Wheaton's CCIW partner in that annual event.) I even mentioned it to GVW during the '07 regionals in Aurora, and he told me that he'd love to play North Park. I don't know why it hasn't happened yet, but I do know that NPU has had some scheduling difficulties over the past couple of years. Last season three of the schools with whom NPU has multi-year contracts (Loras, Concordia WI, and Edgewood) had to back out due to an inability to find common open dates, forcing the Vikings to play a downgraded sked against the likes of Trinity International, East-West, and Spalding. Perhaps these sorts of problems are what's holding back NPU from playing the two MIAA schools -- although the Vikings have managed to play Trine the past three seasons.

North Park is within 200 miles of both Hope and Calvin.

I remember North Park hosting Calvin December of 1991.  It was Calvin's only loss in a 31-1 national championship year.

Interesting that the 4th place team has 1/4 of the players on the two all MIAA teams.  Not sure that I would agree.  In fact I'm sure I don't agree.

no complaints from me on the MIAA teams other than possibly Bowser for Jennings but I don't have the stats in front of me.  Seem to remember a little backlash a week or so ago when I mentioned Veltema for 1st team honors.  Congrats to everyone on both teams!!!!

Just 3 seniors.  The league as whole should be much stronger from top to bottom next year.  Hope is potentially a top ten team next year.

I believe this is supposed to be a deep year in the high school ranks, as well as the JC level in Michigan.

Need to win some non-conference games though, the leagues been limping into the conference season 3 years in a row now.
