Tough, tough game last night.  I know that everyone of us who was there (players, coaches, and fans) left with a bad taste in their mouth.  Hope played well for portions of the game, but seemed to just disappear defensively at other times.  It's tough to lose a game that you lost because you simply didn't execute down the stretch and feel like you gave one away.
Looking at the stats, the FT difference really stands out (SNC shot 30 to Hope's 10), which reminded me of this quote from GVW in the Sentinel on Thursday

"But we've got to get to the free-throw line. If we do that, that means we're being aggressive on offense."

Will post more later - probably tomorrow - gotta hit the road and get back to Holland for the women's game tonight

Go HOPE!!

Tell us about it!  ;)

We know a thing (or three) about it!

Being familiar with some fine Wooster foks I know that to be true. Some people on this board can get a bit prickly at times :-X but you've got to irritate more than just MIAA posters to develop a -17 karma ranking in fewer than 40 posts. :o That's got to be some sort of record.

Actually, 2 of the worst Karma/post ratios (at least 1,000 posts :) ) reside on the MIAC football board.

AO:  -856 Karma on 1025 posts

and the record for absolute number of -K may well be:

Touchdown Tommy: -1676 Karma on 2,808 posts.

There is definitely room at the bottom for WooHooFlungPoo if he keeps up this pace.  8-) :-\

Thanks. I was able to work a half day yesterday at my regular job, since UWSP was only three and a half hours away. D3hoops and D3football take up a lot of my vacation time. :)

He's making progress. At the moment he's moved up (or is it down?) to -19.

I remember there was a poster who frequented the OAC baseball forum who may have been on pace to challenge those posters that usee mentioned above but he was banned and so ended his quest to become the most spited poster in all of D3sports.  :'(  His name was spence I believe and he was a Marietta honk who thought that there was some evil conspiracy that Wooster's baseball coach was always plotting against his beloved pios?!  ::)

I remember Spence. He reared his ugly head for a few weeks on the OAC football board which is what led to his departure if I am not mistaken. Again, the 1,000 post threshold is a tough bar because you have to be offensive enough to upset the multitude's of a large board but not so much so that you can both last long enough to get there and  not be banished or driven out. It takes a special talent to get to 1,000 posts and have better than a 50% -K ratio.

AO and TD Tommy are able to do it because on the MIAC football board the Johnnies are out in force and the price for defiling the collegeville tribe is steep.

UWSP does have the highest NCAA winning percentage of all participating teams this year 19-6 (.760)

No, it doesn't. Oneonta State is .800 (4-1).

Perhaps I was foreshadowing... Oneonta St lost in the first round.

AO's main problem is that he is 'homeless' - his team is Northwestern of the UMAC, but that board is essentially dead.  Since he likes to chat, he does it on the MIAC board, then brags whenever Northwestern takes down an MIAC team - with expected results to his karma.

TDT is different.  I don't know how his karma began to be negative, but he absolutely revels in it.  Everyone by now knows to smite him if pleased, applaud him if ticked off! ;)  He's been kind of adopted as the 'weird step-child', with frequent jokes about him wearing his 'mother's coat' and living in the basement.

I'm curious as to what you Hope fans think about Andy Venema.  He obviously has a major attitude problem, which anyone can see watching him play.  How long do you put up with this technical foul bs?  If I were his teammate he'd have heard about it after his first of the season.  Sorry, but the guy obviously puts himself above the team.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Andy's a good kid and certainly is a valuable member of the Hope team.  As with many young men, he needs to become more focused and pick up his defensive game but he certainly has the offensive skills to play with most anyone at the D-3 level.  Hopefully, he will dedicate himself to getting in good shape in the summer months and become more consistent on the defensive end.

If that occurs, Hope will have a formidable front line with Bowser, Snuggeruud and Holwerda coming back.  It was a fun year in the MIAA this year with a few more teams improving their games to make it much more competitive than years past.  Hope has the tools coming back next year to get back into the NCAA tournament and hopefully go a little farther.  Go Hope!

I was at the women's game watching stats on an Ipod last night, so could only follow based on quick scattered updates. Based on the way the last 2 minutes played out online, was Hope's problem at the end sloppy ball control? The online updates gave the impression that we were turning the ball over and giving up easy shots or commiting silly fouls. Was that what actually played out, for those who were there?

Also, +100 karma to anyone who comes up with a video link of the Albertus Magnus - William Patterson finish. That sounds like a wild one to see.
