Any MIAA expansion is probably going to come from the Michigan NAIA ranks.......and right now I don't think any of them offer near enough sports teams.  It was rumored 2 or 3 had explored NCAA membership but that was when the WHAC seemed to be crumbling, since then they added Indiana Tech, Davenport and UM-Dearborn with Rochester and Marygrove looking into membership............the WHAC seems to be on much better footing these days.

Concordia will be the only NAIA in Michigan with football, and that doesn't start for 2 more years.  It would seem having a football program would be a prerequisite for any MIAA expansion.

Why would that be a prereq?  Didn't the MIAA solve their AQ issue when Trine got full d3 membership?  Ma brain just isn't following the logic!

Yes they did, but they have just 7 football members, if one of them were to drop football suddenly, the AQ would be in jeopardy.  I think the league would feel better, and be better off with at least 8 football members.

This is just me thinking, I really don't know what the leagues position would be on expansion or if its even been discussed.  All the 'rumors' about the NAIA's I heard came from outside the league.

Last I heard, UM-Flint was likely headed to the NAIA.

Evan Bruinsma is a 6'5" wing at Western Michigan Christian.  He is an excellent player.  I believe he was All State in basketball last year as a junior.  His team has won the Class D state championship the last 2 years.  He was their leader last year.  I think he was the 6th man as a sophomore.  If I remember correctly he was also an excellent soccer player.  He would look great in a Calvin uniform next year.

A recent Muskegon Chronicle article says that Evan Bruinsma is interested in Ferris State and other GLIAC schools.

Grand Haven played Rockford in a regional final tonight at Grandville High School. The game had to be moved in the 3rd quarter to Jenison HS because Van Arendonk broke a backboard with a dunk.  I'm guessing there were 2500+ that had to move. Grand Haven won 39-36.

Let's go to the videotape:

Van Arendonk's dunk makes it on the website of  Marca.com, a Spanish sports daily from Madrid

There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I sat behind the Snikkers clan down in Bloomington........pretty cool to see Tom Snikkers jump out his seat to yell at the official for a call going against Hope.......and it wasn't even against his sister. :D

I was in Bayreuth, Germany today and saw Stephen Cramer play, went with MVH. It was really cool to see the top league in Germany. Fans are outstanding! Just thought I would let everyone that I talked to him and everything is well.

Good to hear he's doing well.  Cramer was one of the most athletic players I've seen play in the MIAA.  Also remembering him being an all-around class-act.
