Not only did they win, they won big, something Alma hasn't done much of lately.  You have to go back a couple years to find a bigger margin......25 points vs Oberlin.

Don't look now, but Alma's 2-0!  :o

of course their opponents are now 1-11   :-\

Olivet is busy trouncing UM-Dearborn by 17 at the break, McClary is a rebound short of a double-double already.

No I meant eluded, but clearly I was wrong.  ;)

At one time or another Hope has played all of those teams Chuck, sometimes the open dates don't work out.  North Park hasn't played Hope in a number of years now, but they were one of the original four teams in the whole CCIW/MIAA challenge discussions started 7 years ago.  I forget why NP decided not to participate.

NPU declined to be a part of the CCIW/MIAA Challenge because the men's head coach and the women's head coach at the time did not like the idea of automatically having two road games attached to the schedule every three years out of four. At least, that's what they both told me.

Today's action -  Almost a full slate of games, except for Kalamazoo and that one school who's basketball team seems like a rumor....livestat links and more available at miaa.org

Adrian at Widener, Pa., 6 p.m.

Widener was picked 3rd in the Commonwealth Conference which means nothing to me.  The Pride went 13-12 last year and have started 0-1.  I've stated many times in the past, a team with designs on challenging for the MIAA should be beating these teams from Pa.

Kenyon, Ohio at Albion (Turner Tournament), 8 p.m.

In-region game for Albion and only one today for the league, so root for Albion. Kenyon was picked 8th in the NCAC, which is to say only Oberlin was picked lower.

Alma vs. Mich.-Dearborn at Olivet, 5:30 p.m. (MIAA-WHAC Challenge)

After last night's results, it has to be believed Alma can move to 3-0 and that would deserve a woo hoo!!!

Madonna at Olivet, 7:30 p.m. (MIAA-WHAC Challenge)

See above, only we're used to Olivet winning regularly now so maybe not a woo hoo, but a healthy pat on back.   The only question is really the quality of Michael McClary's double-double and if he'll have company again.

Grace Bible at Calvin, 7:30 p.m.

The Tigers are 5-2 this year only losses to high quality Davenport 70-74 and Cornerstone 68-71.  Calvin will try to avoid the repeat of last years 15 point loss.

Trine vs. Miami-Hamilton, Ohio at Mount St. Joseph, Ohio Tourney, 6 p.m.

Hyphonated teams are almost always bad, especially those you've never heard of until now.

A promising day for the league?

It didn't work when I changed my soccer uniform number to match my team's best player from the year before, either. Of course, I was a six year old kid and not an institution of higher learning.

;)

That may or may not have been accurate about the two NPU coaches at the time (I never asked either of them specifically about Hope or Calvin in terms of relative strength), but I would not assume anything if I were you. It certainly is not accurate about the current regime. NPU is playing Hope this season in women's basketball in the crackerbox -- I presume that the Dutch will host the Vikings next season at DeVos -- and I know for a fact that the North Park men's basketball coaching staff is willing to play either of the western Michigan powers. Since NPU is going halfway across the country next month to play the national runner-up (Williams), the Vikings are certainly not ducking anybody.
