Alma 80 Heidelberg 75

Very big win for sure.  H'berg had a 13 point lead with 11 minutes to go and Alma scored 12 in a row, then fell behind by 7 again and battled back to take the lead and made their FT's at the end.

Brett Lackie 16, Kevin Ginther 16, Greg Silverthorn 15, Cory Schneider 14, Tommy Erickson 10

Alma gets Oberlin on Friday, another good chance at a W, in fact the Scots play Finlandia, IU-Northwest and Purdue-Calumet leading into the MIAA.  They could be 7-3 and 3-0 in-region.

Trine 88 Purdue-North Central 72

Looks like a strong 2nd half pushed the Thunder to victory.  Trine probably plays its best opponent to date on Saturday when they travel to DePauw.

Ian Jackson 22, Tim Pearcy 15, Scott Rogers 11, Randall Harris 10

League is 25-24......last year 21-28

Massey now rates the MIAA as the 8th-strongest conference in D3, within striking distance of #5 the UAA if improvement continues.

Non-Kalamzoo teams are 12-3! I pitty the foo that plays Kzoo in the MIAA tournament!

So if Alma ends up with the 7 seed and Kalamazoo gets the 8 seed, then it may be better to finish in second place in the MIAA  rather than win the regular season league title?  Maybe we just need to work smarter to get that elusive Pool C bid......

The Grand Rapids Press has an article on Allen Durham ("just might be the biggest talent among men's college basketball players in the area") of Grace Bible and the upcoming tournament at Hope.

Also a story about Cornerstone's 1-point overtime victory against Aquinas. I'm thinking Calvin's upcoming game against Aquinas may not be the gimme everyone expects.

Calvin is currently second in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings with 327 points, just 19 points behind first place Washington University of St Louis, after a first place finish in volleyball, quarterfinals in men's soccer, 6th and 9th places in cross country, and an NCAA tournament appearance for women's soccer. (The NCAA men's golf tourney isn't held until May.) Calvin is one of only seven schools to finish in the top 25 every year that the Learfield competition has been held in DIII.

Congrats, Knights!
