Anyone know what the deal is with Adrian and Jovon Mosley? Is he injured?

He hasn't started the past three games (but still played significant minutes). He's only played 12 minutes so far tonight versus Defiance.

could be the significant foul trouble and poor shooting over the last 3 games really didn't help his cause either.

Seeing Hope ranked #1 in 3 point shooting deserved a closer look at the numbers.

After the first two games of the season vs Davenport and Cornerstone, Hope was 11-36 from behind the line.......a terrifyingly miserable 30.6%.

In the last 5 games, Hope has shot 45-82 or 54.9%.....a pace that would surely break all sorts of records.

Individually.....

Logan Neil 12-18  67%
Will Bowser 16-28   57%
David Krombeen 14-28  50%
Corey Williams 6-14  43%
Ty Tanis 11-28  39%

The national leader is at 59.6%, but neither Neil or Bowser meet the 2.5 makes per game to qualify, (Bowser missed it by 1 made 3, 57% would put him #7)

Hope has done this without Peter Bunn, who shot 52% from 3 last season.    :o

*(Greg Silverthorn from Alma and Ryan Clark from Kalamazoo both rank among the top 30 in 3 point FG%)

One thing that interests me about those numbers is that neither Krombeen nor Bowser have aesthetically pleasing form on their shots. Will kind of shotputs his, while Krombeen holds the ball to the side, effecting an odd sidespin on his shots (although not as pronounced as last year). Tanis has a more classic shooting form than the other two and you would expect him to shoot at a higher percentage than Bowser.

Meanwhile, in Greensboro, Korey VanDussen is currently 10-25 (and second on the team in minutes played).

Shot selection probably plays a roll in the difference between Krombeen/Bowser and Tanis.  Ty doesn't always take the smartest shots, he's also known as the 3 point threat on the floor and will draw tighter defenses.  Tanis is also only 3 made shots from being 50%.

May he live long and prosper at UNC-G'boro! ;)

Twenty years ago, Tony Gugino plays for Hope.  20 years ago David Kool plays for Calvin.

Indeed, its a different era.

And Kirk Walter plays for Calvin and Calvin wins the 2005 NC  :)

South Christian had a Mr. Basketball nearly 20 years prior to David Kool, and he didn't play at Hope or Calvin, either.

Did this other Mr. Basketball have relatives who played for Calvin?

For any of you who may have jumped on the bandwagon of a small bible college that may have graced your gym this year, there are a couple of good games this week.  Tonight a match with Aquinas and Saturday a trip to Cornerstone.  This little school also has live web coverage of all their games, so could be something good to watch tonight while other favorite teams are studying for their exams.

I looked up UNCG today and saw he was averaging close to 30 minutes a game.  He played (32 minutes) well against Wake Forest in their most recent game.  UNCG is 0-9.

Van Arendonk has played in 3 games for a total of 12 minutes at CMU.

No, but during the midst of starting for four years in the Big Ten, winning a league title and eventually being an NBA draft pick, West Michigan small-timers were still saying he was in over his head and should transfer to Hope.

All I really meant was there are numerous high school players today who aren't going the D3 route that used to be slam dunks, especially from the west side of the state.  Gugino and Kool were the first two names that popped into my head.

Aquinas 68 Grace Bible 67  ~ Durham with only 7, GBC's 12 game winning streak snapped.

Grace Bible vs the "Big 5" of Grand Rapids

Davenport 74 GBC 70
Cornerstone 71 GBC 68
GBC 64 Calvin 63
GBC 93 Hope 90
Aquinas 68 GBC 67

All 5 games decided by 4 or less.

Damacious White is back and contributing big numbers for Aquinas.  The Saints held Allen Durham, the Grace Bible big man, to a paltry seven points and seven boards tonight.
Saturday's game at the VNA should be much more interesting and competitive than the game at AQ a few weeks ago.

For whatever reason, the amount of points scored in this game seems to be an outlier. KnightSlappy, perhaps you could statistically prove this?  ;D It seems to me that if Hope could have tightened up the screws a bit, the could have beaten Grace easily.  But, I suppose, the other argument is true, if Grace had held Hope under wraps they would have blown them out. Who knows... ???

...Not to mention the 5 games were a combined difference of only 12 points!
