Albion.edu is reporting

Trinity 60  Albion 54......bad loss, no two ways about it.  Trinity finished on a 20-6 run to win it in the final 8 minutes or so.

Speaking of Mr Basketballs, Grand Rapids Christian High has a future one in freshman Drake Harris. In the last game (his first), he came in off the bench  and scored 11. This game he started and put in 23 against rivals East Grand Rapids.

I doubt he'll be coming to Calvin either, though -- he's already visited 7 universities and is probably going to be going to Duke.

St. Mary's 82 Olivet 81

St. Mary's rallies from 15 down to hit a 3 at the buzzer to knock off the Comets.  Michael McClary had 37, Andre Evans 19, Nathan Jennings with 16 pts, 12 rbs.

Davenport 83 Kalamazoo 59

Eric Fishman with 20 off the bench, Joe Prepolec with 19

Finlandia 85 Alma 79

I honestly don't think I've ever been more disappointed/surprised in an Alma result.  Alma had a 16 point lead with 16 minutes to go, the hay was in the barn...and then it caught on fire and burned the barn down.   Finlandia is now 2-11.

Greg Silverthorn 17, Brett Lackie 16, Cory Schneider 16, Tommy Erickson 14

Disappointing day, but it was bound to happen.  Albion and Alma really should have won their games.......combined 1-17 between the two of them going in.

League is now 32-33

With all of the disappointing losses by MIAA teams yesterday, it really puts some pressure for some wins today.  Calvin's game against Aquinas appears to be a tough challenge after Aquinas wins against both a tough Grace Bible earlier this week and, I believe, against Cornerstone last week.  The result of today's game will tell a lot about how this Calvin team is progressing.  Does Hope play today, too?

Every MIAA team is now at .500 except for Trine (7-2), Kalamazoo (2-7), ... and Hope (3-4), who are spoiling the symmetry.

Hope's boarding a plane minus a player or 2 today

I'm sure it will be written about in the Sentinel within a week or so.  Or wait a bit and other posters, more knowledgeable than I, can report.

Hope opponent in Florida, Dominican U, is going to be without a couple pretty important contributors as well from what I gather.  Looking forward to seeing Trine in person because they may have something to say in determining the MIAA championship.  Not winning it but possibly ruining it for someone else.

Aquinas @ Calvin 3pm

Whatever message Dave Hammer was trying to send Damacious White appears to have been received.  White's hit double figures in each game since the Hall of Fame Classic, Aquinas has gone 3-2 which includes a 1 point OT loss to Cornerstone.  At the very least AQ seems to be playing better basketball than they played that weekend.  I advise Calvin to win this game and for Brian Haverdink to play a big part in it.

Millikin @ Adrian 5:15

Millikin is 1-4 and no one on the CCIW board seems to think much of them.  13 players on the roster and only 3 upperclassmen, 7 Freshmen.  A very young squad.  Adrian has been a little disappointing this season, and needs to win this game.  Last year Millikin beat them 43-40.

Albion @ Southwestern, Tx 5pm (which may mean 6pm here)

Southwestern is 3-5 and have played four 1 point ball games already winning 3 of them.  They also have a 2 point loss.  This is Albion's 3rd game in 5 days which I presume included a travel day of flying.  Yesterday's inability to finish suggests a little leg weariness.

Multiple terrible passes by Calvin.  Trying the quick pass to the interior, but too quick for the recieving player to catch it.  Strong defense on the other end keeps them in the game.

Why the single stat line for Haverdink?
