How so many of you could act like jackasses when they finally are able to and comfortable with disclosing some of it is beyond me.

My wife and friend would tell you it's not an act.  ;D

Are the Hope posters spitefullness in the karma department a carryover from the results of Wednesdays game or what?  Seems a bit petty.  Sheesh.

The reaction to this could not be more disappointing and is so obviously dependent on the colors of one's favorite school.

If it were a Calvin player in similar circumstances you'd feel the same way.

Just keep in mind.......
Nothing is worse than knowing you have a serious medical condition, and hearing other people speculate on what it may or not be when all you can do is sit and wait for tests and results that take longer than you or anyone would ever want when you just want an answer yourself.

The family and school probably went out of their way to try and control a little bit of that.  HIPPA says its none of our business and it isn't.

I can assure you the Hope posters don't hold a monopoly on the spitefulness of karma distribution and reasoning.

And exactly why do any of us need to know??  I'd honestly like an answer.

No one said that we need to know.  ALL they said is that it would have squashed some of the illegitimate discussion and speculation that occurred on this message board and in the community.

You are right no one needed to know.  I don't believe that was ever anyone's point.

Hmm - I beg to differ

They didn't keep the bike accident a secret, and they didn't keep the wrist injury a secret, but once it was determined to be a head injury it suddenly needs to be kept secret?

No, I don't really understand.  I agree that they have every right to keep that private, but I just don't see why they chose to do so.

Not sure I understand either.  There is nothing wrong with what Bunn did nor should he be embarrassed about anything regarding the situation.  A simple statement shedding light on the situation (and wouldn't need to be any in depth info) earlier could have gone a long way in suppressing any speculation and conjecture that was going on.

Then quit talking about it.

You are the one that started all of this by posting "I hope people understand now why people were less willing to share what they did or did not know about what was going on."

I started this?  good grief, I know people are determined to make me public enemy #1 around here, but this doesn't even come close to reality.

Sac:  You ask a good question.  My answer is if I knew it was a "closed head injury" I would say it was a closed head injury.  I attach no shame to that injury.  In fact disclosing it to me would indicate I appreciate the difficulty of that diagnoses, and would disclose it hoping others would as well.

I didn't ask any question, I don't know what post you are referring to

But just to humor you, ......and what if you didn't know it was a closed head injury but knew something was wrong and  had to go through all the tests to figure out what it was.  What would you say then?

You'd say you had a medical condition that required further testing wouldn't you.

Then it must be oldknight's fault for his post containing the link absent any additional commentary on the matter. Darn you Oldknight!

Why do you think this was not disclosed because of "shame"?  It's not like he was wearing a Calvin uniform.    :P

Just like we didn't know anything about the injury until now, we also don't know (and shouldn't speculate) the reasons why it wasn't disclosed.  It's none of our damn business!!!!!!

The public silence surrounding Peter Bunn ends.

Hope did do well in following the families wishes as in the end however you feel about how it was handled it was and is the families decision in whether to disclose the information in the first place and if disclosed how and when.

Prayers for a continued recovery and return to the court and most importantly normal everyday health.

I realize that there has been 90 minutes and another page-plus of conversation I haven't read yet but the line I bolded above hits the nail for me.

Frankly, you can track the sudden explosion of posts right to your inflamatory post.  This is not the first time you have tossed gas on the fire, and than jumped back to make yourself out to be the "victim". :)

I'll agree to that bolded line, provided we include the decision about whether or not to make any information about the injury public.
