Nate King played outstanding, what energy he brings to the floor!  In the few minutes he played, he looked nothing like the tentative, lost, confidence-less player from the past 2  seasons. Could he become that lock down defender that Hope lacks? I am so happy for him because his patience and hard work(over his 2+ seasons) is going to be rewarded.

I completely agree - the energy he supplies to this team (from the bench, on the floor, and in practice) is critical.  He looked totally relaxed and confident last night and having someone like that to come off your bench, even for a few minutes, is huge!

After all the secrecy following Bunn's injury, Billy is probably hoping that trend had continued.  According to multiple newspapers, he suffered a "non-basketball related" injury on campus.  He slipped on a patch of ice walking on campus and pulled/strained his groin.

When I read the prognosis of Seiler in the paper this morning, I instantly thought of that scene from Cheers ;D.  Was singing it in the shower actually, what a great show......

Anyone know where Billy Seiler was last night for Hope?

The box score lists him, but those are Nate King's stats.

I don't remember seeing him play last night.

Seiler was on the bench in street clothes--no idea why.

Here are Hope's stats from the Hope website's boxscore:

I don't see Billy's name.  (Please forgive the formatting.)

The email that Tope Renner sent out this morning with a link to the stats listed #32 Billy Seiler, looks like it has been corrected.  Hope Billy is ok.

FWIW- I loved dropping the lights and the use of spotlights for player intros.  One question...why this game? Half empty gym at the start versus Alma(must have been something else on campus because a lot of students arrived late).

I also believe that Alma has a good thing going up there, hopefully those kids will stick with it and help the program develop.  The idea of them focusing their recruiting to the North is a great idea because there is some outstanding basketball talent, just not as much.

There are several kids from "up there" who have been scooped up by D1 programs in recent years, Mr. Bell can assist with this list.  Even kids from the Mount Pleasant or Midland area, while not exactly North or the UP, they seem to make their way over to West Michigan- Gugino's, Bowser, Simons, Carter, Jennings, etc.........  Maybe the new facility will keep them around

I understand that scenario! When I was at Hope I was leaving the back of the Dow Center after a lacrosse practice when I turned to tell the guys behind me the road was icy.  At that moment the guy behind me slipped, slid down the hill into my legs and pretty much flipped me up and over onto my shoulder on the pavement. Class 3 shoulder separation. No fun! Someone needs to salt that campus!

The spotlights were in place for the yo-yo guy's halftime show so I assume Hope decided to do pre-game intro's this way too.

Good call about the lights jspiii, I sat in amazement watching him thinking 2 things:
1.  How many hours does one have to practice to become THIS GOOD at yo-yo's
2.  This kid with the yo-yo's is the highlight of the night thus far

CHN- maybe if they increase tuition or add or few cents to each concession item, they can afford to salt the sidewalks around campus!

could someone help me?  Krombeen is now credited with 10 steals last night?  I don't recall seeing that in the stat line last night, not do I recall that many but the way he is playing this year (aside from offensively last night) nothing would surprise me.  I know MM is the clear MVP choice but I'm not sure anyone is more valuable to his team, with the overall stats to support it, than David.  Amongst the league leaders (conference lines) in rebounding, assists, steals, guessing as/to, while tossing in 13-14 a game overall.  Fairly significant change when he is off the floor (no disrespect to teammates) with the Calvin game as an obvious example.

My perception is admittedly skewed, but it has always seemed to me that Hope players are generously credited with steals in home contests. Has anyone ever looked into home-road steal splits to see if they truly are vastly different?

Pat Coleman

It would be difficult for Hope to have 19 steals as a team considering Alma only turned it over 15 times.
