Anyone notice any name(s) missing?

Andre Evans, Dakota Ellis and Brett Konyndyk are all mentioned in the season preview but do not appear on the current roster.

All three have seen the court this season but are listed as inactive players: http://www.olivetcollege.edu/athletics/mbasketball/stats/1011/teamcume.htm

Andre Evans not there is a huge blow for Olivet (IMHO).  I know that he has always been a bit up and down (really good games and reall poor games), but it sure seemed that when they had big wins, he was always part of it.  I mean going to play the Comets, you know MM is going to hurt you, but Evans was someone I was always concerned about, cause if he had a good game, it was going to be a big problem.  Tough to make an adjustment to that kind of loss for your team mid-season.

I noticed Olivet's JV team is also getting thin.  I counted a total of seven players.  Late in the game one got hurt and one fouled out.  That leaves no substitutes.  So what happens when another player gets 5 fouls and there is nobody left to put in?

You get a sort of "my team is on the floor" situation.

Heard a story about a high school team in Indiana last week that lost by 4 points in 5 overtimes.  The amazing part was that they finished the game with only 2 players on the floor, as everyone else had fouled out of the game!

I hope they played zone defense...

Olivet gained an advantage with having a later start to their 2nd semester.   They were able to play Evans the first week of the league season with a player they knew would be ineliglible.  Evans had 19 points in 38 minutes in a 2 point win over Adrian on Jan. 8.  Adrian would have a great chance to be 3-0 if Olivet had played without Evans.

We Calvin fans have felt the brunt of Andre Evans' potential when they drubbed us last year at Olivet, but I also have noticed certain things lacking in what you would expect on the court in the area of leadership from your floor general.  More than anything, I feel bad for Michael McClary, a truly great MIAA player who has had this disruption right in the middle of his senior season.

I have always been impressed by Joe Post though, actually named him to my personal 3rd team all MIAA roster last year.  I would not be be at all surprised if Olivet actually emerges as a better team if they can fight through this adversity and disruption.  Look for Post's minutes and role in the offense to increase even further (I realize he is already a starter), and I think this will ultimately help Olivet.  Don't write them off yet.

I've also noticed he's doing better at staying on his feet this year. Less of a scarecrow. He used to be all over the place.

I agree that in the long run this may make Olivet a more consistant team.  Unfortunately the price they have to pay for that (x number of games adjusting to these changes) may be a pretty high price.
