Team speed
Krombeen vs Powell- when Powell's not dribbling in the same spot, he's fast.  Krombeen's not even the fastest pg on his own team (Overway may be the "fastest" player in the league), especially in a half court set.  Throw salo in too I guess.... Ad- Hope
Tanis vs Brink-  Neither will be mistaken for Usain Bolt but Brink is "faster"  Ad- Calvin
Bowser vs Snikkers- Even Will concides, no contest Ad- Calvin
Snuggs vs Rodts-  Hello? Ad- Calvin
Dickerson vs Schuster- Dick works hard but he's not fast down the floor or off of it, Brett's not fast but his size and length sure allows him to cover a lot of ground quickly and has a lightning quick release on his jumper Ad- Calvin
First sub possibly? Neil vs Schnyders, Brad is "faster" and a heck of an athlete but i'll call it even for argument sake.

SAC- I agree, spot on with the mid season awards

You can change the match ups but it won't make a huge difference. If Hope doesn't turn Calvin, and vise-versa over all the supposed speed in the world is useless.. I guess I should have added transition points to my earlier list of Keys to success.

I would put Tyler Kruis' speed and quickness against anyone that plays on the  front line. His inexperience may cost him at times but, the big fella can move.

Erm Schmigget

If we lift Snikkers and Powell to their averages, can we also limit Rodts and Schuster to their averages?  That's a 12-point swing in favor of Hope.

Jan 5

Snikkers: 6
Rodts: 30
Schuster: 17
Powell: 4
Total: 57

Season averages

Snikkers: 15.2
Rodts: 12.5
Schuster: 9.2
Powell: 7.9
Total: 44.8

I can live with that.
If there is one thing I've learned from this board it's this: There's more than one way to split a hair.

Here's something to keep an eye on in the Kzoo/Adrian contest.

The first time they played Adrian won 62-48 and Kzoo shot just 27% from the floor, under 30% in both halves.  Without much doubt Kzoo's worst shooting performance in the league probably not by mistake.

http://miaa.org/mbb/stats/1011/0105kzad.htm

Ryan Clark was 1-8 and Joe Prepolec was only 0-4, since this game these two have pretty much been on fire.

I'm guessing the Bulldogs probably ambushed Kzoo with their intense defense that night, and the Hornets will be better prepared this time around.  Both teams turned it over a bunch that night, possibly the highest one game total in league play.

I can't see either team winning by 14 this time around.  This game really does have a big impact on how things are approached going into next week and beyond.  It really is a very big game for both teams.

You're right HConvert, those fricken lead-footed, slow kids are such a burden to a teams success.  I don't think there has ever been a successful "slow" player at Hope, any of the other MIAA schools, or college basketball in general for that matter,

I don't think Don Overbeek (1999/00 - 2002/03) was the fleetest of foot but he found a good niche for himself as great post player.

Erm Schmigget, didn't see your post before I posted, we did see the same thing in Overbeek though.

My fearless prediction for tomorrow?  I predict I will need Tums and quite possibly Xanax.   ;D  Beyond that, I'm w/ Massey...too close to call.  Enjoy, everyone!   :)

My wife just informed me that the Snikkers family article and photo is actually on the front page of the Grand Rapids Press today if anyone prefers the print version.

Go Knights!

This is a textbook example of a disproportionate response. I never said players who aren't fleet of foot couldn't contribute to a team, I simply said they weren't as fast as players who aren't lead-footed. This seemed to me a tautology so obvious that it could be gainsaid only by the most ridiculous of non sequiturs which, for reasons I can't begin to comprehend, you saw fit to provide. Did I insult a relative or something?

-K for such a willful misreading of my post and the absurd sarcasm with which you responded. I haven't smited you before - I generally appreciate your contributions - but you actually got under my skin with that one.
