+ Karma.  However, reading this board confirms this pattern is not exclusive to just those watching the game on TV. ;)

Turnovers are Calvin's achilles' heel -- as has been mentioned here already. I think this is a team problem--not a Snikker's problem. It includes players 'catching' balls that should be caught, moving to get open for passes, probably a whole lot more work on breaking the press, and individuals NOT trying to dribble through a double team, etc.

A really odd thing about Calvin's turnover stats is that the number of turnovers isn't really way out of wack, Albion and Kalamazoo are nipping on their heals.   What seems to be the bigger issue with Calvin is the primary reason they turn the ball over more than their opponents is they don't seem to be very good at creating turnovers.

The NCAA ranks 403 teams
Calvin is #152 in turnovers........rather average
#320 in turnover margin
#375 in steals per game...........pretty poor.

The NCAA doesn't keep an opponents turnovers stat, but Calvin's 252 seems really low when comparing it to some of the other top teams in our region and nationally.

Also should add, the MIAA is very good at not turning the ball over this year.  7 of the 8 teams are in the top half of D3 for turnover with Olivet #6 and Hope #44.

KVS doesn't do himself any favors when he gives interviews like this:

Doug Wentworth mentioned that just four teams will make the MIAA tournament next year. This is the first I have heard of the change.

Could not find anything about this on the MIAA website.  Doug usually doesn't make that kind of comment.  Checking the NCAA site to see if any changes there precipitated this type of change.

He really didn't expand on the thought. He ran through the league standings and made the comment that the log jam in the middle would be particularly interesting if it occured next year because only four teams will make the MIAA tournament. That was the end of it.

Calvin only shooting 12.5% from behind the arc...ouch.

Not good enough to overcome that, especially once McClary had his run of what seemed like ten straight points.

Wentwort calls it a thriller, sounded more like a stinker to me.

What I don't get is why would you have Powell inbounding the ball? The smallest guy on the floor. Still scratching my head but Olivet is a solid ball club, can't have a bad game against these teams

Alma fought hard for 30 minutes, but the turning point of the game was Chris Ray's technical foul at the 12 minute mark. After that the Dutchmen played harder, played "angrier" and finally got past that 5 point max lead that they couldn't get past before that point...

Either way, the Scots fight hard, and play big, but they flat-out are not big.

Calvin is in love with turnovers.

Committing them?  Only 9 today. 5.3 under their season average.

Look when those came, and the results of 'em.  Clutch time at the end when Calvin could have got back into the game.
