So I'll still be rooting for Albion on Saturday. It would take more than that to get me to wear a Calvin sweatshirt.

So if Calvin plays Albion in the conference semifinal at DeVos, will you still be rooting for Albion?

You should know better than to ask me that!

I do have a bet with a Calvin friend: if either team wins both regular season MIAA games, the loser has to wear that team's sweatshirt for a day. In public. That is the only circumstance under which I'd wear a Calvin sweatshirt.

As to your question, at this point I'd like another shot at Albion in the DeVos.

What we haven't discussed yet are the Pool "C" implications of last night. I still think with a win on Saturday and two wins in the tourney Hope ought to be in a good position, depending on what happens in the NCAC tourney (I was surprised Wooster was still in 1st). But I'm not as confident as I was, and this could make Hope more "desperate" in the MIAA tourney if they're not confident winning it will still get them in the NCAA's.

You write like you're an academic. Address every question except for the one asked. You'll never get away with that if you ever sit in the dock and face one of my withering cross examinations. >:(

Like Socrates, I spend more than half my time letting people know why the question they're asking is the wrong one. I would like to believe that, like Socrates, I would hold up well under direct questioning at my trial. I would hope for a better outcome than he had, however. Not that I'm comparing you to Meletus.

Touche'.  However, I would have been flattered if you could have placed me in the company of Diogenes, carrying my lantern, searching for an honest poster. ;)

Albion's JC Cruse has 911 career points after last night.  With a good tournament run he could join Albion's 1,000 point club which would be outstanding for a 3 year varsity player (only a handfull of game action his Fr. year)

Also I'm flattered that I show up in a picture on albion.edu, I look so enthralled........and I needed a hair cut then, its worse now. :-\

If Kurosawa had been a basketball fan, he would've filmed Rashomon in an MIAA gym. ;)

I don't think the HOFers have those magical powers anymore.

You go right on thinking that, realist.

I have in my possession a Zapruder-quality film of the final play, and it's about as definitive because the camera operator forgot his camera duties and got it pointed under the hoop a little later than we would have liked. My take: Colton didn't push off with his arm, but neither was he flattened. I don't see a foul on the play. The Albion player is pretty stationary and is vertical. He has his back to Colton, who grabs the ball while he is in the air and falling toward the baseline when he pushes the ball up toward the hoop. Tough, tough shot. Colton actually had more time than he thought he did, but the pass was pretty deep to the baseline and I don't know he could have come down with it inbounds.

Best I can do with what I have.

My crack research staff has come up with the definitive video of Colton Overway's play and whether or not he was fouled.  Fast forward to the 5:05 mark.

A "Heads Up" to everyone for the Hope vs. Kalamazoo game tomorrow, Saturday, February 19, 2011.

There is NO Men's JV game.  Seems to be a scheduling "Oops!"

The Lady Hornets will be playing St. Mary's at 1:00 p.m. with Hope vs. Kalamazoo Men following at 3:00 p.m.

Please pass the word!  :)

And IIRC, the exact same questions about who fouled whom, what constitutes a foul on a play like that, and whether or not the refs should swallow their whistles in the last second of the game.

If this is true (working on confirmation) Hope's jv is unaware of it.  Could there be someplace else on campus that they would play the jv game?
