I'm sure Bowser had a few almost dunks, maybe even one in the OT win vs. Kzoo, this year.  As much as I am a fan of his, he's probably the one player I can think of who I actually hope won't dunk on a solo breakaway.   :D   "Just get the points, Will!!"  :-\

Trent Salo is another.

Okay...  The one with even a chance of getting above the rim (on his own...with no springboard...or rocket pack...or slingshot).   ;)

So, we can take Andy Venema off the list too?

Sure, pick on a guy with a blown-out knee - you're just mean   :'(

FWIW - Venema had 2 dunks last season in 21 games

That wasn't my intention, I don't think anyone would mistake him for a high riser on two good knees.
My apologies to Andy, his family, and the rest of the Hope community by extension for any offense that was taken.

I was calling you mean with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek.  HOPE you took it that way.   I certainly took no offense at your post.

I'll be rooting for the lower seeds tonight, not because it might prove an advantage for my school this weekend, but because maybe some people who make big decisions might see the light and decide a four team tournament is not the best idea for these student athletes.

I have no idea how far along this process really is, from what I hear its far enough, but maybe there's a glimmer of hope that the Presidents and AD's can compromise and give the MIAA a 6 team tournament.  Seeing the lower seeds win tonight might just provide enough evidence that leaving the 5-8 seeds out of this is not such a good idea.

I think theres a legitimate chance that it could be a 5 seed vs 6 seed in the final. No offense to Trine or Alma, but out of the top 6 teams, there's a lot of tough games to be played over the next 4 days.

I thought it fitting that last night, that exact thing happened on the women's side.  #6 Trine beat #3 St. Mary's by 10.

I'll definitely be rooting for Alma, as I would love to have a shot at two more games at VNA!  Massey apparently says that there is a 3% chance......

I like that a four team tourney places more importance on the regular season. I don't know if that will translate into an overall more exciting product week in and week out but it certainly makes for some interesting storylines in the last couple weeks.

The MIAA has consistently been a top heavy conference and I doubt that one year of parity will sway too many opinions on the matter. Who is to say that the parity we have seen this year is the new norm? It seems more likely that Olivet reverts to their ways of the past once the McClary name leaves campus for good and Adrian takes their place among the top four.

If the pick 'em entries are any indication, you may be right.  Currently, with 30 entries, we have the following picks (number of picks in parethesis behind the school name)

Alma (0) @ Hope (30)
Trine (1) @ Calvin (29)
Kalamazoo (10) @ Albion (20)
Adrian (10) @ Olivet (20)

During last Saturdays post game interview with KVS, Doug. W. mentioned he had "started quite a firestorm" with his mentioning the 4 team tournament format several weeks ago.  Pure speculation on my part would lead me to believe that the various AD's, and probably a few Presidents got button holed on this topic.  Since every sport that has a MIAA tournament falls under the 4 team format I just don't think an exception for men's basketball is likely.  Now if all the sites tonight have sellouts it might be a factor, but the odds of that happeneing are about the same as Alma winning tonight. :)

Can you imagine a 310 game conference losing streak?   :'( :'(

Yeah; but is there another D3 institution that's in the same arena with Caltech in the number of Nobel Prize winners? University of Chicago maybe? Calling Greg Sager.

HopeConvert

Chicago has, by far, the most Nobel prizewinners of any school in the country, regardless of division.

You're rooting for Alma? I think this is a sign of the apocalypse.

You are correct to be shocked Ziggy, and I hereby formally apologize to Alma.  They have much better odds of beating Hope tonight than 4 sellouts occuring. :D

First it's CM rooting for Calvin and now it's sac openly rooting against Hope. What next? Half the Michigan legislature fleeing Lansing for Columbus?  :o
